The googly-eyed dipshit will easily win because the pedo cult leader has spoken.

I think we should looking less at who is voting for whom but what the percentage of Republican voters are actually coming out to vote.

If Trump’s candidate wins but less than 10% of registered Republican voters bothered to come out to vote like they did for last week’s Kentucky primary, that doesn’t fair well for Trump. If over 90% of Republican voters can’t be bothered to vote now, what will be the percentage of them come these Midterms?

This is GREAT NEWS for Democrats.. Paxton is a joke who even his own colleagues can’t stand.. He was impeached by the heavily Republican House here (though the Senate barely exonerated him) after it came out he was funnelling contracts to buddies of his in return for them giving his mistress cushy jobs (he was married but his wife has since divorced him..) That only came out after workers **in his own office** blew the whistle on him, and he retaliated by firing them, a clear violation of whistle-blower protections. They sued him and won.. and he tried to them foot the taxpayers with the multi-million dollar settlement, but the (again Republican controlled) Texas legislature denied him the funds..

So after the $3.3 million settlement was denied the funds the first time, the settlement has literally doubled to $6.6M, which again the taxpayers are on the hook for, though the Texas legislature (did I mention they’re almost all Republicans) has again declined to appropriate the funds…

And this is **ONLY ONE** of his many run-ins with the law, which also include securities fraud which he received a plea deal on.. Cornyn is no prize.. but he’s the incumbent, liked by many on the right and is a LOT less corrupt.. Dems could not hope for a better contrast than Talarico vs a slimeball like Paxon

prediction markets are basically just betting apps for people who want to feel like political analysts

  5. Good. But also the only thing the dems inspire confidence in is their ability to fumble the bag so..

Let’s not all forget this man was impeached by his own colleagues in the Texas house.

  7. >“To call Paxton ethically challenged is to call Jeffrey Dahmer suffering from an eating disorder,” Sen. Thom Tillis, R-N.C., said Sunday

    That sure is a quote.

“Prediction markets” mean fuck all. Opinion percentages; who cares. Through an app, groups of people ‘predict’ (guess/think) that there will be a GOP wipeout.

Predictions/Guessing/Thinking someone will win or lose and placing bets on them does not mean anything aside from those “prediction markets” and the billionaires & mega rich investors of them are going to get richer from those people placing these ”prediction” bets.

Placing bets through these companies (giving them your money) only enriches those investors. It’s like Venmoing these mega rich investors your money directly.

It would be hilarious if prediction markets swayed public opinion enough to turn Texas blue

These folks keep re-electing Ted Cruz. I can’t even pretend to understand Texans. There’s zero reason to believe the criminal GOP will not win.

Paxton vs Talerico would be better for those rooting for a blue wave right?

  13. EatAPeach2023 on

Trump was just waiting to see who the winner would be so he could be certain he backed the winning sycophant

  14. As a small reminder; even if Paxton loses his seat, he’ll probably get a job somewhere in the admin. Trump loves foisting the worst people on us regardless. I wonder if he’d do less damage as a senator.

  15. Appropriate-Set744 on

Talarico will demolish Paxton if he wins the runoff. The contrast is good vs evil personified.

    “according to prediction markets”

Double Zero will be the next ball – according to casino

Like… Why are we reporting on gambling site odds? People realize this is like … An orchestrated push to make you gamble on everything right?

  17. Honestly I’d prefer Cornyn wins. I’m not optimistic Texas goes blue ever, I think it’s going to be out of reach for forever after such dominant Republican control. And we know they’re not below cheating. So, I’d prefer a more moderate Republican over someone as bat shit as Paxton. If Cornyn does win, maybe he will have a chip on his shoulder against Trump too.

It would be good motivation to encourage the vote in 2028.

I truly believe a lot more states would be swing states in major elections if eligible voters voted regularly and didn’t just give up hope and feel like their vote didn’t matter

Can we stop pretending degenerate gamblers are a news source? That would be great.

Donald trump’s national support is cratering.

Trump has lost the gains he made with voters in 2024 and *then some.*

His approval ratings are in the gutter; the lowest of his entire presidency.

He’s lost over half of his support with several demographics—white, black, hispanic especially, educated, non-educated, etc…

Moderate Republicans and independents overwhelmingly disapprove of his job as president and side with Democrats on nearly every issue.

These voters are swinging away from Trump and Republicans and there is a! indication of support for fresh, progressive, reformist and leftist candidates in response to Trump’s authoritarian and kleptocratic policies.

Trump and his policies are wildly unpopular and he is alienating the American electorate but for his diehard MAGA base.

Worse even is how democratic voters are fired up and are more likely than their apathetic Republican counterparts to turn out in droves for upcoming elections.

A vast majority of Americans do NOT support Trump’s war in Iran.

And most Americans disapprove of his handling of nearly every issue! including immigration and the economy—the two issues he primarily campaigned on.

Americans are souring on Trump and MAGA, and nearly every election since 2024 reveals a devastating trend for MAGA Republicans.

Dems have managed to flip dozens of seats since the 2024 election, Republicans have flipped ZERO.

Democrats have flipped multiple state seats while also being massively out funded and have outperformed by double digits in several elections.

Meanwhile, support for Trump among non-college voters has plummeted.

A majority of Americans believe that ICE has “gone too far.”

A majority believe that Trump’s policies are harmful to the US economy.

A majority also disapprove of his foreign policy and his handling of the Epstein files.

A majority support our global alliances and reject Trump’s efforts to alienate our allies.

MAGA Republicans are consistently the outliers in these polls

Better yet, 2025’s off year election results also indicate a sharp rebuke of Trump and his policies.

In 2025’s off year elections, gains were made by dems in almost every county compared to 2024.

MAGA has been trying to downplay these outcomes while ignoring data that speaks to a sizable shift in support.

Data also shows significant shifts with Latino/Hispanic voters especially

In dem elections, we saw very high, and in some cases, record turnouts. Multiple precincts shifted from red to blue.

Democrats retained a state supreme Court majority in PA, and in Georgia, Democrats won two seats on the Public Service Commission that was previously dominated by Republicans for two decades.

In CA, voters came out in droves to vote in favor of proposition 50. Election data shows that counties that carried Trump in 2024 also supported prop 50.

Instead of addressing systemic problems at home, Trump is waging foreign wars that he explicitly campaigned on NOT doing.

Instead of confronting our very real “affordability crisis” Trump has provided massive tax breaks and incentives to the rich and corporations while depriving millions of Americans of their access to healthcare, food assistance and the social safety net. He is literally stealing from the poor to give to the rich.

Trump is more focused on pomp and circumstance; on consolidating power; on obstructing justice; on monetizing his presidency; on covering up corruption and protecting child sex traffickers; and on weaponizing the government against his “enemies.”

Trump’s unitary executive is defying court orders, bypassing checks and balances, and flouting the law.

Trump is waging wars overseas AND at home—mobilizing masked ICE thugs around the country where they are terrorizing the public.

Trump’s agenda isnt populist. He’s transforming the government into an authoritarian kleptocracy; concentrating political and economic power into the hands of the rich, ruling class.

Turns out, these things aren’t popular.

Honest question- are prediction markets actually good at predicting results? Are they more reliable these days than polls?
