After claiming for years that Ukrainian Odesa was a “Russian city”, Russian propagandist Solovyev has changed his tune – as is common for Russian propagandists. He said: “What Odesa? The city is Russian? Have Russians remained there? Where did you find them there?”

  1. I want to throw up whenever I hear that mindless soviet propaganda; every word they say is a lie, nothing but lies.
I don’t know if anyone even listens to them anymore.

  2. Most people here know how this works, but for those who don’t…

These arguments are carefully orchestrated from the Kremlin to coach the population on how to argue in a way that agrees with current Kremlin decisions.

What this short clip shows is the Kremlin letting the population know that Odessa is out of reach. If anyone didn’t read between the lines, the person they’re arguing with will parrot Solovyev’s words until they get the picture and fall in line.

From a narrative perspective, this thesis has two outcomes:

The fanatical/extremist one: “It’s not ours; we can destroy it.”

The civilized one: “It’s not ours; we have nothing to do with it; leave it alone.”

At the end of the day, none of what is said makes any logical sense, because: The state is right. At the end of the day, the outcome of this action is resolved—naturally after decisions have been made—without the involvement or participation of the viewer, who only needs the story to “understand.”

What you talk about? You didn’t hear last five seconds of video? He wants to say, if people in Odesa want to be called russians, they have to wake up and fight. No change in narrative at all.
