Just pointless slaughter. What are their commanders even thinking? Seems like this just a way of executing their unwanted citizens at Ukraine’s expense.

There’s a brilliant German military word for such activity: Himmelfahrtskommando. Himmelfahrt means Ascension to Heaven, but I guess it’s rather a trip to hell…
I can’t imagine how terrifying and frustrating it must be to try and make an advance like that and have no one to fight back against. All you can do is run, hide, and kiss your ass goodbye.
