The BBC Team in Russia ( with support from independent news orgs and volunteers) have, since 2022, a list of named individuals whose deaths they were able to confirm using official reports, newspapers, social media, and new memorials and graves. Using this they’ve confirmed over 223k.
Obviously this figure will be much lower than actual deaths, and 500k doesn’t sound outlandish at all.

At this point, i wouldn’t consider most of them troops since so many were sent to the front lines without any equipment or even weapons.

This probably applies to throwing your political opponents out of windows and murdering their families.

500k Russian men. I don’t think half those guys have any real training at all. I feel bad for them honestly. So many guys that don’t want to fight or be killed, getting beaton or starved for utilizing the fight or flight techniques geneticly programed into every living being on earth.
Most societies and even military leaders want their soldiers to survive. But not the Russians. Push on that objective until you take it or die. If everyone else is already dead, you better not do the smart thing and retreat. God forbid you regroup and use that experience for the next fight.

There are estimated to be around 3 wounded to every 1 killed, so you are looking at around a million med wounded in this war. That is going to have a huge impact going forwards. Imagine if an actual percentage of your population not only fought in but were wounded in a useless war?

This statistic tells be the ruzzian govt will double down, then triple down, until it collapses or wins the war. They have caused complete destruction of the place they are dying to try and conquer. They won’t simply back off because of casualties
