The European Commission will propose to officially open the first negotiating cluster on Ukraine and Moldova’s membership in the European Union on June 16, reports European Commissioner Kos in the FT. According to Kos, Ukraine and Moldova have already done a great deal of ‘homework’ and implemented the necessary reforms. Brussels has not been sitting idle either and has been preparing in advance. At the same time, as early as 24 March, the European Commissioner for Enlargement warned that Ukraine would not be able to join the EU in 2027, as Zelenskyy had hoped.
