This would be political suicide. If Carney attacks the right to strike that could force a general. He would be willingly handing Lewis ammunition to use against him haha. I think we will see how good of a politician Carney is in the near future, he’s had it on easy mode only having to deal with PP. It will be interesting to see him attempt to continue his agenda with Lewis keeping him accountable from the left flank
With how fast the government cracked down on the last strike with air Canada (and let the mask slip that they’ll pick the corporations over the people), this should not be a shocker.
So few people are in unions, it’s hard to imagine many would really care if this happened. If you look at recent history, there really is no downside to crushing union protests, and that’s where the public is also at.
No more environmental responsibility.
Gutting labour protections to enrich the wealthy even more.
I hear the name “Progressive Conservatives” is available again.
I love how the NDP leader threatens anything seeing as he’s running from every feasible seat as if he’s waiting for a riding to run a “draft Avi Lewis” campaign with 30000 signatures.
I haven’t been following the details of this possible legislative update of the CLC – but consulting the stakeholders (ie. those possibly impacted) is a responsible first step in updating any legislation. I don’t see why that would be a beef (except for the current political climate).
Maybe some of the anticipated changes are controversial – but the process certainly isn’t.
