**Kerosene-type jet fuel (including Jet A and Jet A-1, JP-5, and JP-8)** has a carbon number distribution between about 8 and 16 (carbon atoms per molecule); wide-cut or naphtha-type jet fuel (including Jet B and JP-4), between about 5 and 15.[2][3]
**Solar energy can be used to convert basic chemical feedstocks such as carbon dioxide (CO2) and water** into clean alternative fuels that offer greater grid stability, energy security, and environmental benefits. NREL researchers are working to make these processes more cost effective and commercially viable.

Heavy on the smoke.
SAF does nothing to address most of aviation’s climate harms, which come from contrail-induced cirrus, NOx, and other non-CO2 emissions.
Only electric flight is climate safe. If that means no flying until electric planes arrive, so be it.
