Trump is closer to the truth than the author of this article. First of all, the author of the article is conflating electric generation and gasoline. While it’s true that gas prices are fine, electric prices are going up due to a lot of coal plants closing. Renewable energy and especially batteries are not able to keep up. Utilities are turning more to natural gas. AI data centers are also driving demand higher than expected.
