Fact Check: Gasoline prices haven’t “collapsed” under Trump, despite his Treasury Secretary’s claim. Gas prices are slightly higher now than when Trump took office. Crude oil prices have declined, but that’s due to fears of a global recession related to Trump’s tariffs, not “drill baby, drill.”

Yes. The $1.98 gas that Trump gleefully announced was entirely fictional. The oil & gas industry needs certain minimum prices to stay in business. So “drill baby drill” was never going to result in $40 bbl. But maybe the one thing the industry likes about the Trump administration is they are actively getting rid of climate mandates. The California EV mandate (Advanced Clean Cars 2) died a few days ago. Other gas bans and electrification mandates are being discarded. So the industry puts up with the other Trump nonsense.
