Inverstor Owned Utilities. In other words IOU.
Decades of the government not forcing the power providers to properly plan and maintain strategic infrastructure. Power distribution in the US is a patchwork of independent systems that do not have to work together. (see TX) IMHO, this should never have been allowed to be, without proper oversight. The Internet is much the same, for the end user.
This is why solar and battery are such a necessity – just like health insurance!
People have to start thinking this way.
It costs the same as a quality used car these days.
