I’ll be curious to see what side of this most Republicans land on when Trump eventually croaks. He’s 80 and ain’t exactly fit, don’t know what a President Vance would do or what Republicans in the House or Senate would do.
I’ll tell you this — when I was lobbying up on Capitol Hill (I do that once a year) one of my cohorts spoke to a Republican Senator from a southern state. We were lobbying for STEM technical education funding in schools, which had been completely canceled including after-school clubs. The Republican Senator came right out and said that he was all for it, that he thought it was mission critical for the future of the country. When my cohort asked him why he was voting against it he answered, *”because that’s not where my party is going right now.”* He overtly admitted that he was voting against the interests of the kids in his own state, against his own conscience.
When Trump croaks, all of these people aren’t going to have the orange hammer over their head anymore. I’ll be curious to see if they become normal people again.
