Yes, America will learn a hard lesson, or not.

Well, duh.
Trump’s reelection was one of the biggest unforced errors in the history of any democratic country. It’s honestly difficult to find a decision made through elections that was worse (at least at a national level). Even Brexit was less stupid than reelecting Trump (while still being monumentally stupid).
Lurking_stoner on
America “electing” Trump, I’m not so sure about that anymore because the more they complain about something the more it seems it’s because they already did it. So if he’s it stop complaining about a stolen election it’s because it already did it.

Also their *last* mistake.

MAGA doesn’t realize that the government programs/departments they have been cutting are gone, they think he is just combining them. They also believe all this money he is spending on a ballroom and golf trips is his own money. MAGA doesn’t realize the reality of the situation and I’m not sure they can figure it out when they’re inhaling conservative news all day.

I am going to say slavery and the repercussions of it were number 1, but this is a solid second. I would love to hear from serious historians on this issue.

Wouldn’t it follow that not entering a viable opposing candidate is also a contributing factor to that mistake? I hope the democratic machine has learned a few lessons about their contributions to the outcome of the election.
Not challenging the rigged election was the mistake. Musk and Trump have both admitted to cheating. Too many blue district’s seemed to forget to vote democratic in the presidency but voted blue for everything else…?
a_weak_child on
Honestly I don’t even think we elected him. He cheated and stole the election. Furthermore “we the people” didn’t elect him, 77 million americans (if that number is legit) did, which is about 28% of adults in america.

Musk was able to rig the election…no hand recounts…Harris actually won

Until extreme right wing media is taken down, until big money is taken out of political campaigns, until this administration is held accountable, and until foreign propaganda is eliminated, I don’t see how America will learn from its mistakes.

I couldn’t over anymore. Trump was the absolute worst possible person to have put in the White House because he’s greedy, selfish , childish, vindictive corrupt and completely incompetent.

No that would be electing him the first time because that gave him some legitimacy.

This is intuitively obvious and a powerful understatement. What is clear to me as we charge over the cliffs of kleptocracy, nobody in the government is going to stop the Donvict. Not Republicans, not the Supreme Court. The media is useless. They either cheerleaders for the Donvict (Faux) or cowards (abc, cbs) or sellouts (WaPo) or continuing to attempt to cover a lawless, pathological liar with false equivalency.
Corporations and CEO’s are scared of tariffs and consequences for speaking out so they say nothing.
For us to survive, a significant number of Trump supporters are going to have to realize they have bern conned. In essence, a lot of very ignorant people are going to have to get educated in the school of hard knocks. But let’s be honest, if you voted for Trump twice, you are very slow to learn even intuitive lessons.

And don’t forget giving the keys to Republicans. They control every branch of government…
