She literally cited a story that said left-wing attacks outpaced far-right ones for the first time in 30 years… not that it hit a 30-year high. Politics aside, it’s wild how fast people try to weaponize numbers without actually reading them.

  3. lol… the graph she shared shows right-wing violence for the past 30 years is far more of a problem than left-wing violence.

  4. Both the shootings over the weekend were done by straight, white, Iraq war veteran males. The Michigan shooter was confirmed to be a Trump supporter and the North Carolina shooter filed lawsuits against “LGBTQ and white supremacist” conspiracies. Two things can be attributed to these attacks — Trump and his administration inflaming far right violence through hate and division, and the American government yet again failing to take care of it’s veterans. Imagine what $75 billion could have done to help veterans rather than make ICE the most funded federal law enforcement agency in US history to wage war against the American people.

  5. Like they always do, they’re Cherry pick stats to fit their narrative but this time they showed all the data and told people to ignore parts that don’t fit the narrative. lol don’t look here, only focus on this part of the chart.

  6. That graph was whack tho. It was either intentionally misleading or really dumb. Just use a simple line graph, people are really that dumb. I fell for it originally and thought it was some propaganda bull stuff until I used my brain for 3 seconds which I feel is asking way too much nowadays.

Can we ban the Daily Beast already? This is getting ridiculous with the paywalls, and their editorialization gets out of hand quite frequently

  8. Another way to interpret this is the graph represents a threat. Coupled with her comment it reads more like “don’t forget our lunatics are more violent and murderous than your lunatics, so you’d better be careful what you say”.

That also seems like the kind of unsubtle threat the Trump admin is fond of making and then pretending they didn’t mean it that way.

  9. There is a rise in left-wing extremism and violence this year. I don’t think it’s that important to focus on ideology when it comes to violence, no reasonable person advocates for political violence.

That being said, background and political ideology are important factors for finding out why. Why would someone kill a state representative? Why would someone shoot up a Catholic school? Why would someone shoot up an ICE detention center? We need to know why in order to try and prevent these shootings from happening again.

Is it really just a mental health issue? If so, we can try to address the mental health issues of Americans. Is it a gun issue? If so, we can try to address gun control in a way that benefits the well-being of Americans. Is this a political violence issue? If so, we can try to address those issues through analyzing what motivates political violence. It is almost certainly a combination of all of those factors. Trying to pin it down to one is being shortsighted and lacks the necessary follow through to make positive change for Americans.

I think it is fair to say Trump and his administration does just about everything they can to stir up controversy and division. I could argue someone with extremists beliefs in either direction could be fueled by Trump and the media. It’s shocking to me that many of the most recent attacks have had this “whose side was he on” narrative going online. Because it means these attacks are so clearly politically motivated that it could be literally anyone extremist enough to resort to violence.

Nobody I respect or care about would advocate for political violence or want the things in our society that spurs it on. Let’s solve that. Let’s stop just talking about it and maybe come up with a plan. One simple goal, reduce political violence by any means available.

Oh, and show us the Epstein files.

  10. the flaired users only crowd are saying they no longer care about the ideology of any shooter. how convenient, because the president is screaming bloody murder that it’s only the left.

  11. Over on the “flaired users only” subreddit, they posted a picture of the political yard sign, completely unaware that it’s a Trump sign, not a Harris sign, or just flat out lying about it.

  12. Seriously, is there any way to block Daily Beast so I don’t see posts linking to them? Ffs, why is this site not banned?

  13. These people created an imaginary reality years ago when they were far away from power. That narrative has collided with the daily actual reality of how things work.

Now they’re trying to impose their vision onto the system and the system can’t accommodate their fantasies…

  14. What a complete dolt. The best part is that a cursory glance at the yellow bars show that it’s not a 30 year high. I’m not sure who should be more ashamed, her parents or her teachers.
