  1. He’s a socialist, no need for the modifier. Just like a Christian Nationalist is a nationalist.

Edit: From the post someone put below mine.

“Democratic socialists argue that capitalism is inherently incompatible with the values of freedom, equality, and solidarity and that these ideals can only be achieved through the realisation of a socialist society.”

Sounds like socialism to me. Why hide behind the term, Democratic Socialist when you’re a socialist?

Same issue on the far right. Nationalists (National Socialists, if you will) want to impose an oligarchic theocracy on the country. There’s no point in calling it a Capitalist Nationalist ideology, it’s just nationalist. The term Democratic Socialist is just as disingenuous. Call it what it is. If you’re embarrassed to be called a socialist, then man up and own it.

  2. whateveryousaymydear on

governments were created for the protection of all its people…not for corporations for for the few

  3. Titles, categories, and affiliations are less important that policies. So far, I haven’t heard his calling for the dictatorship of the proletariat and the withering of the state, so there’s that

  4. CrawlerSiegfriend on

Democratic Socialists should have hired a marketing expert before they starting up with that shit.

  5. Its pretty wild to me that some people can look at nordic countries and say “nah, I would actually prefer a fascist hellhole.”

  6. Regardless of where he falls on the right-left spectrum, [guy is a Hamas supporter](https://xcancel.com/anjewla90/status/1940097585378738243?s=46)

Hamas is [murdering civilians](https://xcancel.com/johnaustralia3/status/1970297432400634040?s=46) who dont support them

    That isnt democracy

#[Even the atlantic calling him out](https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/2025/06/zohran-mamdani-globalize-intifada/683300/) – very credible, left leaning publication – and he’s still refusing to condemn Hamas. Hope someone will show a SINGLE example proving that I’m misinformed.

Edit: idc about downvotes but #anyone downvoting without replying and showing a single example of Zohran saying “Hamas is bad, I condemn what they’re doing in Gaza” is either flat out wrong that’s okay or being misled about Zohran’s POV which I believe many people are.

  7. I’m convinced Trump and his supporters don’t know the meaning of communism, socialism, or democracy. I still remember when they freaked out on July 4th 2017 because NPR tweeted out the Declaration of Independence (they thought it was a threat).

  8. I fully expect him to be deported or Kirk’d. That’s how far this country has fallen in the last 12 months.

  9. If the people are expected to vote for representation, shouldn’t the elected represent the people?

  10. labels are pretty meaningless. Trump is on paper a Republican but rules quite differently. there should be more focus on Mamdami’s policies and values.

  11. And that’s the truth Ruth. But truth doesn’t apply to MAGA, so it’s really yelling into the void, sadly…

  12. My favorite anti-rightwingbullshit argument against the witch-hunt against “socialism”, understood by MAGA idiots as the government paying for anything that capitalists could make a buck off, is to ask why they think the US should disband the military and only hire mercenaries. Remind them that, under the vague-as-fuck brush that conservatives define socialism, a publicly funded military is inherently a socialist organization.

Demand to know why conservatives want to defund the troops.

  13. Because that’s so much better, LOL. Socialism has a “wonderful” track record everywhere it’s been tried. Yep, great.

  14. Note to Mr. Mamdami: I’m pretty sure that unless you are a white, born in the USA Trumpist republican, you are a communist.

sadly, I’m also pretty sure this comment is not /s

  15. “Conservatives” believe that they’re the only ones who actually pay any taxes and that the rest of us are just living off of free handouts.
