  1. I’m just waiting for the right to *openly* argue that the House and Senate aren’t really needed anymore.

The supreme court has shown itself to be making things up as it goes along as long as it helps the Republicans. During Bidens term the supreme court sat on its hands again amd again until things were mooted. Now the lower courts follow precedent and the supreme court overturn precedent using the shadow docket and everytime it helps Trump achieve a political objective.

The icing in the cake is when the justices go on speaking tours and pretend they are apolitical and this is all normal.

  3. This headline is giving off strong Mitch Hedberg vibes.

I used to rewrite the Constitution to give Trump terrifying new powers. I still do, but I used to too.

This is yet another step to full takeover to dictatorship, authoritarian regime. I’m not sure which. But the ability of a single person to stop funding that was approved through congress is disturbing. It means that there is no point to a government. The government, senate and congress are elected officials by the people to represent their interests. When the government representing the people can be overridden by a single man then why have a government. The only thing you have is a king or a dictator. Good luck everyone.

  5. If a democratic president has any balls in the future he/she should use all those granted powers to fuck the Republicans up the ass with a barbed wired wrapped, razor tipped massive dildo.

  6. Constitution can only be changed via amendment. This is unconstitutional but there’s enough bigots in charge to look the other way.

  7. The conservative majority on the court are modern day confederates and they are doing the bidding of their masters.

They do not believe in the principles America was founded on. They don’t believe in equality, equity, or even basic human rights. They want a caste system based on racial lines and they’re doing everything in their power to make that happen. They are part of a plot to destroy the United States.

The sooner we all recognize this is what’s happening the sooner we can deal with it.

Can we stop pretending now that this SCOTUS is anything but a Republican tool designed to move us into dictatorship? That’s literally the only reason all 6 of those justices are on the court. They should all be considered rogue agents and illegitimate.

  9. SCOTUS is just about the most stupid, undemocratic institution imaginable. The only amazing thing is it took so long to reach this obvious end game.

  10. I never really understood the desire to send death threats in the past. But hearing what people with lifetime appointments in high political offices are doing, gleefully, I’m finally seeing appeal. Assuming you’re not mentally ill, it has to be cathartic at least.

  11. I’m literally in the middle of teaching my AP government class. I want to use this as a case study about interactions between branches. And I will. However the Education commissioner has made some bone chilling emails and announcements about “making political statements “. I’m going to teach the laws, the Articles etc. and then let them role-play as SC. Let’s see if a bunch of high school kids get it right.

Someone should be documenting every instance in which this SCOTUS has ignored the constitution and precedent.

  13. I will always be pissed at Ruth bader Ginsburg for not stepping down and giving Obama an opportunity to replace her.

So the president can invoke impoundment without any fear of recourse, and do so completely unchecked. And, as he’s being doing, he can reallocate the funds Congress has already allocated. So, what’s the point of our god damn constitution anymore? Congress’ job is then to basically sign a blank check is what the supreme Court is saying. Our country is truly in a bad place. Even more so than most realize.

  15. Even if you support this president, you should not support these changes to your own rights.

Trump’s Supreme Court is creating the overreaching Federal Government that nearly every Republican has been fighting against their whole lives.

MAGA should be looking at this with great skepticism. Every thing you’ve built can be destroyed in a whim.

We already know how susceptible he is to suggestion.

I don’t recognize the United States nor do I consider myself a citizen! Read the Declaration of Independence because it’s time to dismantle the government and start a revolution!

  17. “It essentially awards Trump a line-item veto over any part of the budget that is remotely connected to foreign policy—and, quite possibly, every dollar appropriated by Congress…..

Lawmakers committed the money to, among other things, democracy-building work, election integrity, climate resilience projects, and gender equality initiatives.”

What a joke of the court. It explains that pikachu face of roberts shell

The supreme court should have term limits. Omfg. They have been working against us all along.

I feel like I read this at least once a month, once a week if it’s a bad month.
