> The American Federation of Government Employees, the largest labor union for federal workers, sued the Trump administration late Friday over blatantly partisan language that it said was inserted without consent in the out-of-office emails of furloughed workers during the government shutdown.
> “Going far beyond the traditional and lawful use of the presidential bully pulpit, the Trump Administration is unlawfully compelling agencies and civil servants across the federal government to engage in political rhetoric to serve the interests of the governing party,” the complaint, filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, said.

As they should. Calling the opposition party “radical Democrats” is inexcusable.

The American people are not a negotiating tool – they are not a prop. Yet that’s how the President is treating federal employees whose families rely on that paycheck.

Even at the most basic level, this is blatantly illegal far beyond the Hatch Act.
Imagine if your boss changed your out of office message that puts you in position to be fired.

If any instance has any chance of gaining traction in the courts, it’s what happened here
For those who are not aware, I will summarize:
– Employees were put on furlough, and set up email “out of office” reply messages stating so
– After employees left, their away messages were deleted and replaced with a pre-written out of office reply message blaming radical left democrats for the shut down and making it seem like it was coming from the employee
– Some employees found this out, logged back in and changed the message back to what they had it before
– After these employees did that, someone went back into their accounts and changed the message again blaming radical left democrats for the shut down and making it seem like it was coming from the employee
—–
This is well beyond just a Hatch Act violation at this point.

Good. There should be no place for partisanship like this in government. Doing this to people without their knowledge or permission is unacceptable.

This nauseatingly unpresidential comment epitomizes the MAGA mentality, which aims to morph the United States government into a hyperbolic, hyper-partisan, fascistic, McCarthyism-reviving, U.S. Constitution-shredding propaganda machine.
