  1. Market forces are moving towards a transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy, but much too slowly to forestall the wreckage of climate stability on which all life, and economies depend.

    We must do better to survive. The transition will require continued but declining use of fossil fuels for decades to come. To prevent over-investment in what should become stranded assets, the market needs price signals or regulatory restrictions which are strong enough to outweigh the short-run market signal of current prices (which reflects immediate conditions).
