Grocery prices started going up because of the supply chain disruptions associated with the COVID pandemic in 2020. Trump was in office then and bungled the COVID response, which certainly did not help the situation with the supply chain. He promised to cut grocery prices on Day 1 of his second Presidency, but instead pursued a tariff policy that put another jolt in supply chains. Grocery prices have continued to rise and Trump is not someone I would count on to reduce them.

Just saw a box of chocolate I usually buy (the movie theater box kind) was 1.24 at Walmart last week and this week it’s 1.48. That’s a 20% increase overnight, I’ve noticed a lot of stuff increase up to 10% in the last month or two.
My Walmart has just started installing digital price tags, so I look forward to more increases coming soon.

Eggs were almost $15 a dozen from the local grocery so I went to Costco instead. They didn’t cost anything at all. I got all the eggs they had and didn’t pay a penny. I still don’t have any eggs but if they don’t have any to sell then they don’t cost anything, right?
