  1. Explain it to me simply. What emergency justifies it? Because there’s no insurrection and no unrest in the states except what ICE is bringing.

    I couldn’t listen to this guy anymore this morning. How do people believe his bullshit? He’s just a smarmy, disingenuous jerk.

    “Tom Homan didn’t accept a bribe” (he was caught on camera doing so). “Propublica is a left wing blog” (it’s not, and ignores that several Trump appointees have the same multiple primary residences that Tish James does). “Pritzker might have committed a crime by not doing his job” (wrong on all accounts).

    Just a bunch of lying and gaslighting. It’s exhausting.

    After he does, everyone will be told to still just sit around and do nothing or else he’ll put us on double secret probation.

    Our leaders should be standing up to this now and instead we’re all being told to remain calm and not get too riled up.

  4. I don’t even know what all the theater is for. He’s been saying since before the election he was going to do this. This is not news. This has been planned since the beginning for Trump to be king. This is simply the execution of a planned coup that always existed.

    He wanted to do this in his first term because of the George Floyd protests. I’m honestly convinced the problem they’re having is timing as they wanted to use the military to intimidate voting at the mid-terms. The Kirk shooting changed their timeline.

    Can you imagine the outrage (and justifiably so)these same people would have had if President Obama or Biden had even slightly suggested invoking the Insurrection Act anywhere, much less Red states? Funny thing is, those cheering this on consider themselves patriotic.

    The insurrection is coming from Trump and his armed Federal goons squad. There is no insurrection. This is chaos. These criminals need to be arrested and jailed for destroying our nation and its laws.

  10. Trump is only capable of holding onto one thought at a time, so whenever he gets a bad idea it displaces the previous one. So to that extent, yes he is ‘looking at all his options’. He just has no ability to compare them to each other.

    If he tries to invoke the 25th, Trump will threaten his life. He also doesn’t have the numbers, The only ones in the cabinet who are intelligent enough to see the damage Trump can do are he and Rubio. Most Republicans in Congress know they will lose their jobs if they vote to convict (Note: Collins, Murkowski and Cassidy voted to convict, but that isn’t enough).

    That said, I’m sure Vance doesn’t like this. He gambled taking VP hoping Trump wouldn’t live long enough to do anything too stupid. He will be left holding the bag for Trumps decisions and he won’t have the devotion of a cult to protect him. The night of the Iran bombing he looked pissed, not his usual smug. My guess, he was a man who’d fought hard against the decision made because he knew he’d have a lot to lose.

    Is this the same JD Vance that stood up in the EU parliament and said: “To believe in democracy is to understand that each of our citizens has wisdom and has a voice. And I really do believe that allowing our citizens to speak their mind will make them stronger still.”

    This is not his option, it’s treason. This is him lying to try and kick off civil unrest so he can justify suspending the 2026 elections. I’ve been cautious about calling this out before, but now I fully believe he intends to overthrow the Constitution and invoke single party rule with himself as the head of state.

    Republicans & Democrats in Congress must impeach and remove him now while there is still time. Vance as well, as he supports this coup. I will accept President Johnson as a compromise between weak leadership and dictatorship.

    Honestly, Congress and the Supreme Court only have two choices now: Trump’s arrest or Trump’s revenge.

    The part that people need to worry about even Republicans is why they do not want the credit. Especially Trump. Chicago has a double digit decrease in violent crime since the start of 2025. Why invade your Country when you could show Nobel and the world your Presidency has lowered the loss of lives. He takes credit for the things that aren’t happening and yet he is making America sound horrible when it’s not. This is literally the reason but wow. Congress is worthless.

  22. My guess is that Trump will somehow use the millions of peaceful protests at next weekend’s No Kings rally to justify declaring the Insurrection Act. They will highlight a few isolated incidents of violence among millions of people to show that military intervention is required to control the millions of “insurrectionists” taking to the streets.

This is part of the gameplan.  They’ve been trying to manufacture a reason to do it, and since nobody is really helping them by violently protesting, they’ve been ramping up their rhetoric about how dangerous and lawless cities are, despite everyone who lives in them posting how normal life is.  

    They’re itching to stomp on Democratic areas, mainly cities, because they know the red country folk have been conditioned for decades to go along with it.  If they can start to meaningfully suppress blue areas and their votes before the midterms, they can stay in power long enough to really dismantle democracy.

    Did we get a name for this First Lady of Antifa, BTW? I would think Noem’s keen sense of Homeland Threats would have been showing force as they swarmed the Antifa Figureheads, one by one (with the coda to Layla as the soundtrack.)

  26. Trump doesn’t have the backing to call the Insurrection Act at this point. If he did, he would have already done it. During his lucid moments he may actually know he can’t, but it’s hard to say.

    Kegsbreath does not have the respect of the Armed Forces. Maybe the dipshit 17 year olds, but not the educated and experienced professional brass, and you need enough of the O6-O8s to successfully do anything.

    We have O7 National Guards Generals openly saying that if they deploy into Portland, their mission will be to protect *protestors* – the citizens and residents of Oregon – against ICE and any other aggressors. If that guy is comfortable enough saying that, he is not alone in that perspective. The military leadership may be significantly more conservative than your average Zohran Mamdani fan, but they are significantly more liberal than MAGA thinks, and they are significantly more lucid and aware of their duties.

    Trump legiitmately risks a coup – a no shit military coup of his administration – if he makes a wrong move too quickly.

    And every day, the Reaper gets a little closer to calling his name. Every. Single. Day.

    And Vance does NOT have the fall-in-line loyalty of the party, much less the top military brass as well. So, folks. Don’t panic. Make plans. Protest *peacefully.* Build community. Stay safe. Organize. And yes, prepare to vote. We should still vote, we have to *see* that it’s rigged before doom-and-glooming. We must have hope, and there are reasons to be hopeful, even in this darkness.
