The prosecutors who withheld evidence need to serve 43 years before being snatched up by ICE. This was a willful miscarriage of justice and it’s absolutely filthy.

  2. Not only his life was wasted behind bars, he’s now wasting more of his life on a Nazi concentration camp.

    ICE is a terrorist organization.

  3. The late African Afrobeat maestro Fela calls this type of situation “double wahala for dead bodi”
Loosely translated, it means “they are trying to heap more trouble on top of a dead body/corpse”

Why would any Americans willingly go to a court house anymore is beyond me.

    Courthouses are now traps.

  5. More than this evil president, his administration and the heavily armed private army of sadists he’s built, its the people, the voters, that gleefully get off on this that disgusts me on a level I can’t articulate.

  6. Just reading this story filled me with rage. I can’t even imagine how he or his family feels. God damn, and I’ve seen people defending this. Like, have some empathy people? Fucking cruel heartless motherfuckers. Makes me ashamed to call myself human if they’re lumped in with me.

  7. This is double punishment. It’s like the universe is conspiring against him. First was the wrongful conviction and then ICE swoops in. What a nightmare

    This guy was a keeper..

    >By all accounts, Vedam has been a model inmate. He designed and led a prison literacy training program, raised money for Big Brothers Big Sisters, tutored and mentored hundreds of inmates and earned three degrees himself. He is also the first person in the prison’s history to earn a master’s degree. “There’s no doubt if there were concerns about public safety this would not have occurred,” Cantorna said. Saraswathi Vedam said her brother “refused to let this travesty defeat or define him.” “Instead, he funneled his energy into a life of service,” she said. “As Subu has demonstrated throughout his life, he has the kindness, insight, intelligence, and integrity to make a treasured contribution to the world, beyond his legacy as a person who withstood injustice with nobility.”

  9. This is just sad. This is not just doing your job. This is just being cruel for the sake of being cruel.

The state prosecutors may well have coordinated his release and deportation with ICE, perhaps because they do not want a civil suit for hundreds of millions of dollars for wrongful prosecution. The then prosecutor team may well have long retired. There is no accountability here.

  11. Only a white supremacist run govt would wrongfully imprison a man for 43 years and then not at a minimum grant him citizenship as an apology. He was brought to the USA at 9 months old from India, he doesn’t know anything about India.

They just keep coming up with new ways to be the fucking worst. There are people making these decisions. Actual human beings with lives and families…how do you sign off on something like this and then go have pasta with your in laws?

  13. They are using him as yet another test case for the media to see what they can get away with

  14. That statement from ICE is really something. “A career criminal with a rap sheet dating back to 1980”… when he was imprisoned for the murder he’s just been exonerated of.

If you’re absolutely determined to deport a guy who arrived as a baby, you think the letter of immigration law demands it, fine, say that. Instead they try to justify it by lying.

  15. This is one of the most atrocious decisions in a very long string of them. I’m at a loss as to how these agents didn’t quit on the spot.

So the prosecutor skewed it to have him sentenced decades ago.

I bet they also just tipped off ICE on his “release” as well.

This country is run and operated by racist good ol’boys.
