The Republicans control the presidency, the senate, and the house. Mike, look in the mirror. If you didn’t want to protect pedophiles then the government would be open.

  2. Slight-Rate7309 on

And who’s fault is that, Mr. Speaker? You already know that the ACA credit extension is incredibly popular, and it’s time for you to make a deal. Stop blaming the Democrats. It is entirely within Republicans’ power to bring this to an end.

How can someone say so little while speaking so much? And how do you speak so much with the balls of every pedophile and every billionaire in your mouth?!

  4. > The longest government shutdown, which was also the last time a federal funding lapse occurred, was from 2018 to 2019 during President Trump’s first term, lasting 35 days.

    Damn you, Democrats!

The parts of the government that are remaining funded are ICE and the military. On top of that dominion voting machines, tik tok, and most of the media are owned by right wing lunatics now. The government isn’t going to be reopening, at least not in the form it was in before the shutdown.

All because republicans don’t want people to be able to afford health insurance and are scared to hold a vote on the Epstein files.

By his choice. Trump and Johnson own this shutdown.

The vast majority of Americans support extending the ACA subsidies, including the majority of Republicans and the majority of those who identify as maga.

It’s so easy. Do what Americans want. Extend the ACA subsidies and open the government. Easy peasy.

The Republicans had no problem permanently extending the tax breaks for the top 1%.

98 Days of shutdown since 1980:

Trump has been President for 51 days of them and counting.

A Republican has been in the WH for 55 of those days

Republicans had majority control of congress for 73 of those days.

  9. GOP is owning it. Trump: the 1st and 2nd longest shutdowns in US history. Make America Gag Again

  10. thistimelineisweird on

Mike Johnson is responsible for the longest shutdown in government history? Interesting. Too busy watching porn, I guess.

  11. HallucinogenicFish on

You could bring the House back in session any time you choose, Mikey.

WWJD? Stop protecting sex predators at the expense of the American people.

  12. As far as I see it, they have another two weeks before the Republicans absolutely will capitulate. They may have been able to rob the cookie jar for some slush funds to pay the troops this week, but I doubt they can keep going back to that well. Heck, the ATC might force it to end sooner without them being paid. Once more pictures of service men and women in food pantry lines start becoming a daily thing, they will fold like cheap suits.

  13. 24 million Americans who get their healthcare through the ACA are going to see their premiums increase 114% (double) on Jan. 1 because of Trump and Republikan Party’s Big Beautiful Bill.

Republikans have shut down the government so they can double insurance premiums for 24 million Americans.

  14. Funny how supposedly his side is “full of ideas” but is never pressed for an example.. ever..

  15. Johnson: “If the American people want this horrible Democrat shutdown to end, they can simply give up their healthcare now, so Republicans can work on giving them heathcare later, like we worked on it 15 years ago.”

  16. Bittersweet.

Having Americans be pawns in a political game sucks

But a longer shutdown is reflective of the Administration to the general public in any way you try to spin it

  17. Then stop it. Balls in your court. Seems like 3 Branches of government should be enough to get your way, right?!

  18. The last shutdown was 35 days long under Trump. It ended because air traffic controllers were leaving their work and Rich people were complaining.

    This is day 13.

  19. watch_out_4_snakes on

Are we certain that they are going to open it back up? This could be the new normal.

  20. Anything to delay swearing in the Arizona special election winner and getting enough votes to release the Un-redacted Epstein flies.

  21. His legacy is going to be astoundingly sad.

Anyone at this level generally ends up in history books with dedicated chapters, and his story will read how he protected a pedo ring and shut down the government to avoid releasing evidence as such.

    Wow.

    Womp womp.

  22. Risky_Phish_Username on

That would never have happened, if you weren’t protecting a pedo, so you could keep access to whatever leverage/blackmail Trump has over the rest of the party, so you could continue running Project 2025 with your patsy taking the brunt of the focus.

  23. TheForeverUnbanned on

After attempting to negotiate on exactly zero items the republicans went home for weeks and whined that nothing was done.

Mike Johnson in hot dog costume: “We’re all still trying to find the guy who did this!”

  25. Personally I don’t think I should have to pay federal taxes during a shutdown. They aren’t working so why should they get paid?

  26. thecloudcities on

    Yeah, that sucks.

Maybe the party that controls both houses of Congress and the White House should do something about it.

This “we can’t govern unless we have the power to do absolutely whatever we want” act is not a good look.

  27. Frequent-Client1508 on

Have you noticed that there were no shut downs during the biden presidency? This is number 3 for Trump.

  28. Seems Trump wants to outdo the US record set during his first administration. We winning yet?
