The problem with this is that not every soldier is a combat soldier.

Many soldiers work in cyber defense where being fat is not a problem, some are logistics wizards “flying a desk”, again where fitness is not an issue and many others perform their duties just as well despite having a few pounds too many.

The problem is that America wins wars because of its logistics and battlefield intelligence, not because it has the most fit troops.

Driving those with brains away from serving weakens America.

  2. What are the chances that the ones being “fired” have other things going on, like being female or black?

  3. I’m sorry, but this is just so… ‘gay’.

Why is the Secretary for the Department of Defense so concerned with men’s physiques?

I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with being gay, but Hegseth… maybe it’s time to come out of the closet.

  4. Im totally down for enforcing a fitness standard for the military (and police, it requires discipline, something they need more of).

I just wonder if the standard today will be the same as the standard tomorrow or the next day. With this administration that is highly unlikely, hence my current opposition to this move.

  5. Hegseth has the most “peaked in high school” plus “always second place” energy ever.  Like he was the under study for everything in his life.

  6. The overlap of fat people on active duty and those on reserve is pretty slim. It’s what happens when you go from mandatory PT to if I feel like it PT.

  7. If you fire all the “fat” National Guard troops, I’m not sure there’s many fit MAGAMales left in the US eligible to serve – at least based on all the shit talking TikTok, Instagram, FB and YouTube videos they post. Between getting rid of those with shaving waivers, everybody else this despicable SOW wants to send packing, and the souring morale within the services, we’re not going to be able to maintain a volunteer force…which means we’ll have to revert back to hiring “fat” soldiers. Full circle – jerk!

    Cool, now do ICE.

I hope they lay off all of the Dough Boys who came in fresh off of being turned down for every other law enforcement gig they have applied for.

That would cut their numbers in half.

  9. My dad served in the national guard for 20+ years before mandatory retirement. He was always at the upper end of the weight standards. He had to watch his diet closely a few weeks before his regular weight checks. He primarily worked as an airplane mechanic. He was good at what he did. They’re going to be getting rid of men like my dad. And that’s going to have a negative impact on keeping things in good working order.

  10. “Sent Home” is not fired.

Unless they’ve somehow violated the terms of their NG service contracts they’ll still get full benefits.

So basically they were rewarded by being allowed to return to normal life and not made to stand around like jackasses.

That’s how dumb this pentagon is.

  11. This guy was in the national guard. He knows first hand how many fatties are in the ranks.

  12. Yes. Real men. Real chiseled men. Hard men. Rough men. Men that know how another man feels. With strong arms to hold me at night. Men that aren’t afraid to break into a musical number at a moment’s notice. Sweaty, dirty, salty men!

You know what I’m talking about.

They were so excited to get to Chicago where they could watch their favorite team, Da Bears!

Is it illegal to fire a soldier who was in the acceptable weight range until Hegseth just changed it last week?
