trump cheated and that’s why he won. most people NEVER voted for him in the first place. why do you think democratic governors won in the swing states?

  2. Historic turnout or not, the “No Kings” protest will not be expected to make a change if the protestors refuse to take action. To make change, protests are required to disrupt important events and institutions belonging to the people in power, not standing around and having a good time, which the last No Kings protest was infamous for. Change will not occur in the United States if protests continue to be symbolic and performative.

  3. Middle-aged suburban white guy here.

The last No Kings Day was the first time I’ve ever been to a protest in my life. I made signs and took my kids. I’ll be at the next one, too.

And CNN would be covering it in a 2 min excerpt, while spending another 20 mins on some late night truth social post

    Peaceful protest can be disruptive.

Sit ins were disruptive. And peaceful.

Mass boycotts of municipal bus systems were disruptive. And peaceful.

The “Die Ins” on Wall Street for AIDS activism were disruptive. And peaceful.

The disabled folks who laid down in the street to fight for the ADA were disruptive. And peaceful.

The disabled folks who laid down in front of McDonalds doors/stairs to fight for wheelchair ramps were disruptive. And peaceful.

Peaceful protest can also be disruptive. Marching around with funny signs has yet to win anything.

Peaceful protest needs to also be disruptive to commerce or it will largely be ignored by those in power.

(posting this as a top level comment so it will be seen by more people, as I just replied to someone else’s comment with this)

You know we’re out here about to do the Lord’s work when Speaker Mike Johnson is already calling it the “Hate America” Rally LMAO

Going out to buy materials to make a sign. Will be protesting with you all. Fuck Trump

  8. Man, if I was worried about this, I’d end the shutdown before the 18th.

Otherwise, you have a large group of federal workers sitting idle. I wonder how they’d feel about the current state of affairs…

  9. Another Saturday? Gonna make one on a day that matters, cause some real (non violent) chaos, and mess things up. Protest like we’re the French!

  10. Hosting the odd protest every month or two just isn’t going to do anything unfortunately.

It’s good to get people together and give them hope.

But if you look at Civil Rights etc. It was a long campaign of disruption.

The people who voted for this and stayed home in apathy are the ones who need to be on the front lines.

You caused this. So go make it right.

  12. If I were a betting man I would put my money on Trump using some sort of ANTIFA argument to arrest protesters at the No Kings protests.

Hope everyone stays vigilant, they are already starting to label the no kings protests as “antifa” and likely use that as fuel to go after everyone.

If the turnout is not large and loud, the Trumpers will take that as a failure.

    *See? nobody cares about that!*
