* Dallas Police Chief Daniel Comeaux says the federal government offered $25 million to partner with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement — but he turned it down. He shared that information on Tuesday, following months of concern from residents and the city’s Community Police Oversight Board.
* The money the federal government offered is part of ICE’s 287(g) Program, which other state and local agencies have joined.
* The program allows ICE to collaborate with state and local law enforcement in the arrest and deportation of immigrants.
* Dallas residents and the police oversight board have wanted to know for months whether the city would work more closely with ICE.

Mad respect for this Chief.
Fuck ICE and anyone perpetuating this insanity.

And then both Dallas and Fort Worth ended their DEI policies.
Doesn’t matter if something got spared, the suffering just goes to another area instead.

This is happening more and more given ice’s super aggressive tactics in detaining people. With them it’s all about inducing fear and a lot of legitimate cops don’t want to have anything to do with that.

The Feds are bribing the city law enforcement, how Trumpy of them.

I have noticed states and locales have yet to actually sue the federal government for the massive amount of crimes committed during DHS/ICE activities. I imagine it’s a a very large task when the federal government doesn’t want to cooperate and will defend and any bad behavior. However, I wonder if one point of attack would be for these partner state and local agencies to be sued. It could diminish the willingness to join forces with ICE in the future.
Although, the above doesn’t address a place where it is needed most like Chicago, as the PD do not currently work with ICE (instead they just stand there and do nothing!)

I caught this on my local news tonight and gave him a HELL YEAH BROTHER from my living room — he took full accountability in front of city council and (from what I saw) got away with the strut, my man. And even if he gets a lick from the move he’s got my respect.

Wow they can offer 25 mil to get help and Trump can give 40 Billion to Argentina, but we can’t extend healthcare subsidies?! The party of Argentina everyone!

Before you guys start blindly cheering Daniel Comeaux on because of this article, the guy is a huge Trump supporter (or at least was before this) and an overall piece of shit human being known for being corrupt.
They have been doing their own brand of police brutality against immigrants even before Trump was elected so this all just looks like political theatre.

They are failing in their recruitment efforts and are attempting to buy local police force. The GOP needs to find a hole somewhere to crawl into and die.

Departments usually don’t pay out each other if they want to work together
This was a bribe and they should been arrested for attempting to bribe a police officer

The lawsuits alone are probably going to cost more than $25 million.
