“Listening to anyone from the Trump administration talk about the No Kings protest would have had you expecting complete anarchy. Masked men with Molotov cocktails, smoke in the air, American flags burning, police and National Guard in full riot gear—something more akin to January 6.”
“We call it the ‘Hate America’ Rally that’ll happen Saturday,” Speaker Mike Johnson said that same day. “Let’s see who shows up for that. I bet you you see pro-Hamas supporters, I bet you you’ll see antifa types, I bet you you’ll see Marxists in full display, the people who don’t want to stand and defend the foundational truths of this republic. And we do.”
“But perhaps equally upsetting for Republicans: The 200,000 people who are estimated to have shown up in D.C.—of the roughly seven million protesters nationwide—represented an expansive contingent of Americans. Many of them seemed to care quite a bit about those “foundational truths” Johnson pretended to be so worried about. ”
“It took maybe about five minutes among this solidly liberal, “protest the right way” No Kings crowd to completely shatter the Republican facade. These were retirees, public school teachers, college students, and quite a few former government workers who’d been fired or took the buy out in the DOGE culling. ”
“It’s obvious that Republican proselytizing and fearmongering about violence and agitators at this rally was strategic, but it’s even more obvious that it was a piss poor strategy. You can’t plug your ears and yell “antifa” while hundreds of thousands of Americans march through the streets. It’s laughable that an event co-signed by former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and former Vice President Kamala Harris would even serve as a sleeper cell for antifa, and yet Republicans told that lie over, and over, and over again, even as their policies—and their president—become increasingly less popular. ”
“It’s the ultimate gaslighting of America that this administration is trying to pull. Antifa are the people he doesn’t like,” Epps told me. “It’s gaslighting, and it’s coming from the absolute highest levels of U.S. government.”

George Conway (lol) and Bill Kristol (yeah the neo-con war criminal) helped organize No Kings.
I don’t think they should be afraid, but they should reconsider what they are supporting.

The thing that surprises me the most is that after a solid week of talking about how terrible and violent these protests would be, I haven’t seen one instance of government brownshirts starting anything, even in places like Chicago where government brownshirts are out in force already.
People need to take time to vote. This article is just meaningless coping.

For the most part Americans are a bunch of lazy apathetic self serving individuals who don’t react until even the most basic of rights get disappeared. That is where we are at. So when Trump manages to get people rilled up and off the couch for two hours, that is a big ask so yes…..he should be very afraid. He finally managed to piss us off.

In my suburb of a large city, there were about 2,000 protesters: elderly people, families with small children, people brought their dogs, there was a high school aged jazz band duo practicing their keyboard and saxophone songs. So scary, chilled to the bone terrifying lol.

The sheer fact that the speaker called a massive organized peaceful protest un-American should have everyone up in arms. It won’t, but it should. Some of the quotes in the article were great especially the one that basically said we should 3 branches of government with balance and right now we don’t. This is a fact and also should be something everyone can agree on.

The interesting part is how little the rank and file right-wing reacted, and I don’t think its some restraint, some new found respect for the law and decency, it sounds more like apathy. The fact that there was not counter protest does not bode well for the enthusiasm of MAGA right now, sure you still get the screaming howler monkey keyboard warriors, but when it comes to actually doing something, they cant seam to be bothered.

The No Kings Protest is standing up against the destruction of democracy. Trump and the republican administration are destroying the services that hold up communities and promote teamwork. We are the united states and united we are, like the song says this land was made for you and me, but Trump and the republican administration wants to put their foot on the majority of people and hold them down, whether they are part of the LGBTQ+ community, the low waged, the disabled, or moved here from another country.

Ted Cruz “You look at this No Kings rally-there’s considerable evidence that George Soros and his network is behind funding these rallies, which may well turn into riots.” He also said that “there are many groups supporting the rioting and violence.” So, what did we have, the arrested a woman in an inflatable dick and balls costume and a dozen or so MAGA instigators. So Raphael, where was all this violence like there was on J6, that we saw none of with over 7 million protesters in 2600 cities?

I need to know how many of these 7 million people voted for trump and down ballot Republicans, and how many plan on changing their votes in the future accordingly. Otherwise it’s just the same group of us muttering the same warnings of the last 10 years.
