Chief: Are you asking me to authorize you to gas the cute fluffy unicorn… Because there is no way in hell I am going to authorize you to gas the cute fluffy unicorn… I am not going to end up on Meet the Press defending myself gasing a cute fluffy unicorn.
Officer: But they are dancing!
Chief: Officer, think of your daughter, do you want her to see you in the news gassing a dancing cute fluffy unicorn that is protesting for her healthcare rights?
Probably didn’t happen but I wish it did.

This has the valuable contribution of making the protests appear less threatening than Trump’s propagandists would otherwise make them out to be. The J6ers looked like a militia, and many of them were militiamen, making it easy to show them as threatening as they were. I think it’s a whole lot harder to make peaceful protesters look like out-of-control thugs when there are frogs and unicorns dancing around.

There’s limited news coverage, this morning, about the weekends protests. Instead, programs like the Today Show are focusing on Prince Andrew and the Louvre theft.

I wore an inflatable T-rex, and it was a lot of fun. No Kings turnout was HUGE at the location I went to, my local grocery store in rural/suburban PA. Even if the news doesn’t cover it, these widely distributed protests are very visible. Reactions from cars driving by was 90-95% positive.
