If an author wrote a fiction where a new dictator, tore down the building that housed so much of the history of that position, I would think the symbolism was heavy handed and a bit far fetched. But here we are.

  2. The Epstein-Ballsaal (Epstein Ballroom) is a building that will be situated adjacent to the White House, a Public building and designated Museum by law, along side the Trump stone patio (which replaced the iconic rose garden), in Washington DC.

To be completed in 2026, it was commissioned by the Republican Party and corporate fascists for official and social functions as a gift to Donald Trump. The design will be consistent with other palace ballrooms in the Middle East.

It replaced the Historic and Iconic East Wing of the White House (built by TR and expanded by FDR) torn down in the middle of the night by a demolition company in violation of law.

  3. Honestly, when this is over just bring back the British army and burn the whole thing down again. I’m not sure the current building will survive the stench of this administration.

Perfect metaphore for the state of the nation: a total outrage where Trump lies about everything, including what’s going to happen and how much it’s going to cost, no planning, no permissions, everything under the table and not a single person in the nation able to stop it from happening.

It does… but the educated have families to protect and are literally starving, which is exactly what the government wants.

  6. The point of everything lately seems to be to buck authority and tradition for the sake of doing so (with added bonus of angering the libs), conditioning us to accept increasingly brazen power grabs.

America has been a corrupt shithole for a while now. Trump just dialed it up to 10.

  8. The one question I would love the press to ask is this, “Given we are to assume the tearing down of the eastwing is lawful. Does that not mean the next president could just as easily tear down the ballroom?”

It’s the federal government’s duty to maintain these buildings up to the standard set by Congress. Therefore, barring any new input by Congress, the ballroom will have to be torn down and the east wing rebuilt by law

Just imagine the far-right outrage if Biden had done this. Same could be said for *literally* everything else trump has done.

  11. Americans literally elected a convicted criminal fraudster to be president.

The only people surprised to discover that trump is massively corrupt are complete idiots.

  12. It’s getting worse , and that will continue.

That is the one constant recurring pattern that can be observed in the last ten years.

I hate headlines like this. The truth isn’t that corruption doesn’t matter but rather that current leadership is corrupt to the core.

  14. Sadly this is what Americans voted for in 24. Also the morons that stayed home and could vote are also to blame.

  15. It was only going to be 200 million to do this renovation, but Trump is getting old and a little forgetful. He forgot the kickback. So he added another 100 million.

Now we wait for the contractors to file suit because they haven’t been paid.

  16. Elon_is_a_Nazi on

Well 77 million treasonous domestic terrorists decided to support a terrorist, nazi, confirmed rapist, felon, and suspected serial pedophile rapist to be POTUS. Wtf did everyone think would happen???

  17. It’s being destroyed because Trump needs a distraction from the fact he’s still in the Epstein Files.

  18. Corruption doesn’t matter anymore… to conservatives. Aww fuck it who an I kidding? They never cared they’re just unmasked now.

Wait until the “Hunter’s laptop” crowd hears about this one, they’re gonna call for impeachment for sure you guys!

Cool can’t wait till we get a democrat in there to tear down the ballroom and get rid of all the concrete in the rose garden. I am sure conservatives will be totally cool with that.
