We need a new word that is somewhere between urban and rural that is not suburban. Beckley is not what I would consider to be rural. It’s a large town? Small city? It’s its own metropolitan area.

This woman has the courage of her convictions. I’m so proud of her. I went to Beckley way back when I used to tent camp and go whitewater rafting in the New River Gorge. The area is stunningly gorgeous. I remember the poverty of the area as well. The tar paper and tin roof shacks.
