Here’s my issue with this and every other time this happens. Yes, his rights were violated and he should absolutely sue. However, the bigger issue is that he was silenced and that particular situation will never happen again. Also, there is no recourse for anyone involved
On a wider scale imagine a large protest outside a counsel meeting. It is a singular point in history where voices can make a difference. Now imagine the police coming in and rounding everyone up. Yes, rights are violated, but that one chance to make a difference is now gone, regardless of lawsuit. The powers win, the people lose.
These aren’t just mere civil rights violations, they are undermining democracy — with absolutely no penalties. This crap has to stop. I don’t know if mandatory criminal charges against leos are the answer but this has got to stop.

See, what I would do is strap a bluetooth speaker to a drone and fly/park it nearby the fascist operation going on while blasting this.
You can beat the rap, but you can’t beat the ride. When you’re arrested, it costs the police nothing at all, even if they know they have no real reason to arrest you. They get paid to do it and there’s really no downside because even if the police get sued over it, the taxpayers pay. Meanwhile, the person getting arrested spends time in jail, will likely have to appear in court and will spend money on attorneys. Here’s the other dirty little secret about getting arrested that I was told many years ago: even if you sue to have your arrest record expunged, the FBI will retain it in their records. They will just ignore the order from the court. The arrest will follow you for the rest of your life.
