Why aren’t republicans proposing any means for premiums to not skyrocket for next year? I don’t get how a ballroom is a higher priority. Doesn’t make sense to need to reopen the government before propsing changes when there is insufficient time to put out a new healthcare bill countering the bbb cuts. Wasn’t obamacare based on republican ideas?

11% of the population of Texas, btw.
Well, 11.18%.
I posted this a couple of days ago, if you want the scope of what it’s like all over the US in terms of how many people are going to go without come November: [If I were you, and my government was about to starve me for a month for an undisclosed amount of time afterwards, my ass is on the first greyhound bus I can find straight to DC. ](https://www.ers.usda.gov/data-products/chart-gallery/chart-detail?chartId=58380)
No kings is one thing, but about 40 million of you are about to starve (In America, of all places). If there was ever a time to show up and be heard, that would be the time. Your government doesn’t care about you? Make them care.
40. MILLION of you. Think about it.

That’s a lot of people for one state. The nationwide estimate was 41.7 million on SNAP in 2024. So that’s around how many are set to be cut off, right before the holidays. Food banks will have no way of keeping up. If you’re in a position to donate, please do.

The senate is preserving the 60 vote threshold to encourage bipartisan compromise. However, the republicans refuse to compromise. They tell the democrats “here’s this bill, vote for it or we shut the government down”. Democrats don’t vote for it. We know who caused this shutdown. Get rid of the 60 vote requirement, or start negotiating for the other side’s votes.

The largest cohort receiving both SNAP and WIC benefits is low income, non-college whites. I mean, let’s think about this, Republicans.

I genuinely dont really care about their suffering if they voted for republicans. But the unfortunate thing about this is many African Americans and other minority communities will be hit as well. They are suffering cause rural white Americans would rather hate the POC then taking care of themselves.

And of course states like Texas are busy doing Emperor Trump’s bidding sending their National Guard to other states instead of deploying them in state to support the food assistance programs like what California has done.
