  1. *The justices could hand Trump the power to deploy troops anywhere, anytime — and against Americans.*

    The ultimate power grab. He is preparing for his third term.

  2. I love how the media throws around “could” like they’re just speculating casually on something, not discussing a military coup by the US president

    “I am confident that our military would not obey unlawful orders”

    Yeah, what about every orders is lawful according to SCOTUS?

  4. As far as brutal dictatorial army goon squads go, those of us under the boot could do worse than the national guard.

    I, for one, am not afraid of a weekend warrior with minimal training who can’t even fit into his camouflage.

    If that’s his republican guard, so be it.

    If you’re in the national guard,  what are the ways to get out? Like a back or leg injury which lays you up? Or a diagnosis of mental issues?

    Utah Phillips on why he left the military: “I will no longer abdicate to others, my God given right to decide who the enemy is”.

    Been living in my head rent free lately.

    We are in dangerous times.

    History isn’t going to remember any of these people kindly… and I wonder if the NG realize they’ll be the ones who face consequences, not the leaders, they’ll all be allowed to carry on to plot the next reich

  8. “will turn the National Guard into Trump’s personal army” is a more accurate description, given the seditious SCOTUS currently in place.

    Ah ha! Well what do you know. The courts did have a very special relationship with a very specific branch of the Armed Forces going back in history.

  10. Well, I guess we’re heading for a civil war. The fucking NRA will be suspiciously busy.

  11. Practice your 2a before it’s too late and used against you. Protect yourself. Be it with food, water, firearms, whatever. Just make yourself safe.

    First Scotus made Trump immune from prosecution and now they are giving him his own personal army? What could go wrong?

  13. The armed forces swore an oath to the American people and the constitution. These orders should not be obeyed.

  14. What confuses me is the national guard of every state is paid for by the state. Even when they send someone to training (trained at same locations and schools as active duty and reserves), the state pays for that training out of their own budget.

    Why I find it so ridiculous that the federal government can take over a state funded program from state taxes.

    Had the federal government paid back states for taking over their state paid troops? How about give a tax credit (federal income taxes) so the states citizens do not have to pay to compensate for stealing tax money from the state citizens (property/sales/state income tax)?

  15. Worst case scenario:

    1) State of emergency and militarization of the territory (obviously in Democratic and dissident Republican states;

    2) Scrapping federal voting laws and creating new state maps to channel and polarize votes;
    Electoral fraud through postal and/or electronic voting;

    3) Short circuit between the federal and state levels, both at the legislative and judicial levels;

    4) Definitive takeover of the Supreme Court (it sounds bad to say, but if anything were to happen to the Democratic members of the Supreme Court, the President and the Senate would appoint them);

    5) Constitutional amendments;

    6) Welcome to the new Russia
