The GOP-Iran hatefest has been kayfabe for at least a decade, really probably since the Ayatollah came to power.

Really, the GOP and the Ayatollah love each other. They are each other’s boogie man to rile up their respective bases. They have a lot of shared policy objectives, like gutting the nuclear limitation agreements and undermining the Iranian civilian government. They are both closely aligned with Russia.  They’re on the same team, they just play enemies on TV.

  2. *Everyone* with a brain is comparing Trump to Hitler. Just a shitty dollar store version of him.

  3. The problem is that Netanyahu fits that slot much better, and in a way that may become painfully relevant for them very soon.

    >*Earlier in his career the world had watched him with amusement. Many people refused to take him seriously on the grounds that “he could not possibly last.” As one action after another met with amazing success and the measure of the man became more obvious, this amusement was transformed into incredulousness. To most people it seemed inconceivable that such things could actually happen in our modern civilization.*

    >*He has a magnetic quality about him which, together with his past accomplishments, wins the allegiance of people and seems to rob them of their critical functions. It is a bond which does not easily dissolve even in the face of evidence that he is not always what he pretends to be – in fact is more often than not, the exact opposite.*

    >*On the whole, his speeches were sinfully long, badly structured and very repetitious. Some of them are positively painful to read but nevertheless, when he delivered them they had an extraordinary effect upon his audiences.*

    >*His primary rules were: never allow the public to cool off; never admit a fault or wrong; never concede that there may be some good in your enemy; never leave room for alternatives; never accept blame; concentrate on one enemy at a time, and blame him for everything that goes wrong; people will believe a big lie sooner than a little one; and if you repeat it frequently enough, people will sooner or later believe it.*

  5. They aren’t the only ones. One thing for sure is that my grandkids and great grandkids won’t be burdened by finding any American nazi relatives on our side of the family. Not sure about the red hat side though.

  6. I don’t like the Hitler comparisons.

Trump is more like a wannabe Mussolini. That is a better comparison.

  7. It’s fucked up when I’m agreeing with Iran about something, but they’re kind of on the nose here.

  8. when basicly the entire world is comparing trump to hitler you know we are screwed cause at least about most of the world remembers germany with hitler and dont want a repeat. they at least learned from history instead of just erasing it cause history makes country look bad

  9. They’re not wrong, but hearing the comparison is odd considering the Iranian government has denied or even outright mocked the Holocaust for decades.

  10. They’re Holocaust deniers by national policy, who gives a fuck who they compare to Hitler?

  11. They are literally doing everything Hitler/the nazis did play by play. The only difference is they are fast tracking everything instead of spreading it out over 5ish years.

  12. Asked to comment on the comparison, Trump replies “Iran, flattery will get you everywhere”.
