I follow an immigration attorney on TT who says ICE regularly brings *the wrong fucking client* to court because they aren’t keeping records and apparently the detainees are just numbers to their captors.
Also, as soon as they are detained, they are almost immediately moved to a different part of the country, so even if they have an attorney, that attorney is not licensed to practice in whatever state they moved the detainee to and now must also find a different attorney.
Thousands of people are being “lost” to this system. It’s horrific.

Here’s a fun exercise. Try to figure out where all the homeless people in DC were bussed off to. The answer? Nobody know. There is no record. No record of recipt. No record of destination. Nobody claims to know where they are. All we have are vague promises.

In one of the interviews with the “ICE chasers” (generic term for people who try to follow ICE around and document their activities), they said if they dont make it in time, the people who get blackbagged just disappear. Sometimes they can only get the name of the person being detained, but that’s still enough to try and track them.
It’s scary to think that if ICE grabs you, and there’s no one around to witness it, you are as good as gone.
