This is why I will never accept that taxing the wealthy is as fucking hard as people pretend it is. Everybody says ‘oh they have no cash it’s all assets! And they can’t sell because it would crash the market!!’ Well how fucking convenient for the billionaires.
Yet they can whip literal millions out of their arsehole whenever they want to donate to a politician. They can whip *billions* out of thin air when they want to buy a newspaper or media company, or a social media website, or build a vanity rocket to space.

We need federal tax reform cause it is possible for millionaires/billionaires to just move to low tax states to avoid popular tax reforms in which they have to pay their fair share.
There is a reason why the marginal tax rate for the wealthy was so much more during Eisenhowers term. It’s hard for localities to move the needle on taxing the rich. The federal government should be reigning in the rich. Not giving them handouts.

By my math, if they had EXACTLY a billion dollars and gave away $500,000, that’s 0.00005x their earnings. If you made $100,000, that would be like giving away exactly five dollars. Totally unnoticeable. Even 13.5 million wouldn’t even BEGIN to register. The amount of wealth is so vastly enormous it earns more in interest than they can even spend. At 3% they earn THIRTY MILLION DOLLARS A YEAR doing absolutely fuck all. Billionaires suck.
