He needed to go *months* ago. (Wait… do they mean what I *think* they mean by “needs to go”? Because I can think of two different meanings…)

  2. thistimelineisweird on

He needed to go before this. If this was what did it for you, I’m sad to say you haven’t been paying enough attention.

  3. Not that Dems were going to win this, but Schumer could have controlled the narrative and the message at the end. he failed in every possible way.

He is weak and if dems want to show they care they need to replace him as minority leader tomorrow.

  4. Dude, the entirety of the party needed to go years ago, and that even includes folks like AoC. Not a single one has the courage to call the republican party what it actually is: a terrorist organization. And if they can’t even name it, there is no way they will do anything to stop it.

  5. So the shutdown was because of Democrats, they didn’t want to open it. Starving people just to “stick it to Trump” is so idiotic.

  6. Schumer is obviously terrible and should be replaced but this is nonsense:

    > , to summarize, at a moment when the elections had left Republicans on the ropes, Democrats caved in exchange for a couple of months of government funding and a vote on health care that they are bound to lose, if Republicans even hold one

Last week’s elections did not change the balance of power federally one iota. Republicans are not on the ropes, they control everything. At most, last week’s elections increase the likelihood that voters will put Republicans partially on the ropes in 2027. That’s it.

  7. Well hang on now, everyone. Let’s take a beat here. Let’s turn down the rhetoric just a little bit until we can figure out what the fucking Baileys think of all of this.

Who cares anymore. At this point, just got to wait 3 years and hope we can stop GOP from taking office again. I’m looking for a third party that will fight against the GOP.

Dems already lost and amhave proven they are too afraid to stand up to Trump

If only his stamina to fight the gop was the same as his resolve to defend his ineptitude

How about all Rich People of power who will always benefit from our poverty, no matter what side of the political spectrum they sit on, be removed and prosecuted for crimes against humanity? Why do 319,999,500 people suffer to make 500 fucking people have more individual wealth than any state in our union? WAKE THE FUCK UP AND RISE AMERICA

  11. The Democratic Senate caucus coordinated behind the scenes to get this result. The one who jumped on the metaphorical grenade were just the ones who were least vulnerable to elections.

If you have democratic senators, and you don’t like what happened last night, but let them know that unless they push for Schumer’s ouster, you’ll assume they were in on it, and you will 100% remind everyone you can at primary time.

Democrats need to stop trying to win a game that’s rigged. Stop playing. Make a new game.

I saw this tweet that really summarizes how I feel about the Democrat party at this moment in time:

sometimes i feel like the republican party is a big tornado that is coming to kill me. and the democratic party is the rickety shed that i’m hiding in. and i say “we should really fix this shed, because it’s not doing much.” and people say “what? why aren’t you criticizing the tornado instead?!”

  14. He’s just awful. I swear to God, the consistent images of him hunched over a podium with his reading glasses is making our party look feeble and outdated. Not to mention he has no game when counter attacking Trump and definitely no ability to go on the attack.

  15. I’m not a fan of conspiracy theories, but the group name here is suspicious.

If you look back to the cloture vote for the CR in March, it’s the similar core group of people that decided to surrender then.

    Schumer, Fetterman, Masto.

They seem to have dominance over the banking committee and the finance committees.

The retiring members are also suspect. While they voted for this, their replacements that also fall into the same line has likely been picked.

  16. Schumer needed to go well over a decade ago.  I cannot wait for the next primary for US senator (NY)

Voters *at the ballot box*: Firmly grasp it in your hand

    Democrats: *defeat themselves again*

    Voters: Firrrrmly grasp it

Democrats: *fail for the 10,000th time*

    Voters: FIRMLY GRASP IT!

Democrats: *scream as every opportunity to win is shoved up their ass and they still fail miserably*

I’ve been very cautious about calling for primary challenges to democrats, even when they aren’t perfect.

This shutdown capitulation has cured me of that.

  19. Call your local senator or representative. I just did my two senators thanking them for voting NO yesterday and they need to put pressure on their peers to vote NO and hold strong until we get permanent Obamacare subsidies. One answered and was helpful to pass along and the other I left a message. I used this link from .gov to obtain the #

Before I thought he needed to step down as Minority Leader. Now I think he should be primaried. Thank you for service, you are done.

  21. If Schumer is still there, or at least if there’s no vote against him, all the Dems are complicit. Even the ones I might think are the good one, he needs to at least be brought up on a vote of no confidence. I know for the minority it’s more of a secret thing, but they HAVE TO SHOW we are no ok with this, and a line needs to be drawn.

The Democratic Party is really such a disappointment., we need a Zohran Mamdani to usher in a new Socialist Democrat Party because this Party clearly does not work.I would jump ship in a heartbeat if we could.

  23. The Republicans just held the well-being of American citizens, including their constituents, hostage in order to forward their rhetoric and give tax breaks to the rich while their supporters in the army, in government positions and within other federal jobs are fucked over.

The Republicans have been betrayed by their own party who are willing to throw as many people in front of the meat grinder as they need to to get their policies through.

The Democrats have been betrayed by their party, who have let the Republicans get away with throwing American citizens in front of the meat grinder. They have showed a serious lack of spine and conviction by giving it.

  24. I absolutely hate this guy. He serves Trump. How do I know this? Look at the outcome of his leadership. Trump always gets what he wants with Schumer in place. I am embarrassed for the Democrats when Schumer speaks.

  25. A reminder that these are the Democratic Senators that voted for this, let them know how you feel about it.

    • Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto of Nevada

    • Sen. Dick Durbin of Illinois

    • Sen. John Fetterman of Pennsylvania

    • Sen. Maggie Hassan of New Hampshire

    • Sen. Tim Kaine of Virginia

    • Sen. Angus King of Maine

    • Sen. Jacky Rosen of Nevada

    • Sen. Jeanne Shaheen of New Hampshire

Sen. Chuck Schumer of New York

*Any* ~~democrat~~ politician who capitulates to these fascists needs to go, no matter when their upcoming election is.

  27. funkydrewfizzle on

Honestly wr need to remove the entire old guard from both parties.. they have shown they can not be trusted to govern our country.. if you are over 60 you really shouldn’t be able to hold office imo.. at that point you are no longer invested in the future you wont see
