  1. Why are we letting obscenely rich 70 and 80 something year olds make decisions that will affect the rest of us for 50-60+ years

The US is a broken country and it’s hard to see a fix at this point

  2. A refusal to endorse isn’t enough and he desperately tried to change the conversation. Grow a fucking spine.

  3. It was smart to end the shutdown.

It was a __huge__ win for Dems. There’s no disputing that.

It would have been less of a win as the suffering got worse.

Kelly said, *”But I also hope they understand that we all need to be on the same team here. And what matters at this point is restoring these tax credits—if we can do it—in December. And we’re gonna work really really hard, and we’re gonna focus on getting the Republican votes necessary to do that.”*

There’s the issue right there. By “same team” he means following the centrist minority who just swung their votes to the Republicans and he actually believes there are Republican votes to extend ACA tax credits. These aren’t normal political times, the MAGA version of the GOP will not engage in bipartisan solutions, and this is just woefully naive as to the reality of politics, the country, and our descent into authoritarianism.

So instead of showing some backbone and forcing Republicans to capitulate, Democrats decide to beat them to the punch. This isn’t the party to meet the needs of this moment. Far from it.

From old Chucks point of view the worst that can happen is he is forced to retire and spend more time with his money.

Mark Kelly – whom I have always liked – should have gotten a new asshole torn live on air for that non-est of non-answer.

Dems need to figure out we want *unequivocable* answers.

This non-answer bullshit will lose the election.

  7. Any Senator unwilling to demand Schumer be removed from leadership as far as i am concerned are as feckless as he is

  8. Keep up the pressure! Call your senators and leave a message requesting that they remove Schumer from position of minority leader! It takes about 30 seconds and holds more weight than a email!

When I called I made sure to tell them that I was a registered voter, member of their party, and frequent donor. Chuck Schumer had proved a ineffectual leader who could not even corral his whip for a vote of this magnitude.

Jesus fucking christ. They just can’t help themselves. He didn’t “refuse” to endorse Schumer. He refused to condemn the 8 senators who broke ranks. Kelly just demonstrated that he doesn’t have a spine, either.

I am so sick of these sniveling, two faced assholes. The whole lot of them need to be primaried.

  10. The reason Schumer is so useless is also the reason he’s so hard to remove as minority leader. He made a handshake deal with a bunch of the independently minded dems (including Bernie sadly) that he wouldn’t use the threat of removal from committee assignments to keep dems from breaking rank.

  11. Refused to endorse, but also *refused to criticize.*

Maybe Mark Kelly’s spine functions better in zero-g.

  12. Mamdani should refuse to endorse him. Like stage a question from the press to set it up. Lol

Its interesting to see that the Democratic party is willing to cave over a few flight cancelations… Nothing that Boeing or Southwest Airlines doesn’t do every other year… Party of the People I guess?

  14. Jabberwocky2022 on

Go one step further, endorse someone else now to be leader. Chris Murphy for example. Just do it already and get Chuck out of here.

  15. Chance_Warthog_9389 on

A shutdown strategy relies on being able to inflict political damage.

Trump took ALL of the political damage of halting SNAP and gave zero fucks. We threw monkey wrenches in a machine we need more than they do, and are mad it didn’t work.

  16. We have a minimum age for a presidential candidate.

We have a minimum age for a congressional candidate.

The reason is that they are not prepared as well as out of touch with the community as a whole.

A maximum age limitation should be considered for the exact same reasons!

  17. xHugo_Stiglitzx on

How out of fucking touch is this decrepit ass millionaire fossil? Schumer can get fucked into the sea.

  18. Every democrat who voted with the Republicans wants to end the US system under the constitution. Along with betrayal of all working class Americans.

Just retire all you old people. You have grifted and insider traded enough for 100 lives already. Just go away.

  20. Elonstinypeepee on

    He’s not incompetent.

This is the centrist democrats trying to hobble as much momentum as possible from Tuesday’s victories.

Schumer is a Democrat in name only.

End of story. He’s got to go

  21. 8 senators caved. 8 traitors. Schumer’s biggest crime this time around is being an ineffective leader

  22. “I understand their frustration. But I also hope they understand that we all need to be on the same team here.”

I wonder how Senator Kelly defines “same team” here.

  23. Adventurous_Bed_5874 on

Excuse me, if I’m trippin… but, I ain’t see Schumer on the stage explaining why he voted yes?!?! Where am I lost at. Last thing I seen Schumer do was, make Trump eat his words in the White House, after he made him admit that he is indeed the actual reason for the government down on national tv..

you guys must’ve forgot that, huh

  24. AllUsernamesInUse_ on

This is why we will always beat you, Democrats 🙂 you are weak, spineless, baby cowards. There’s almost no sport in winning against you anymore. There’s no challenge.

  25. NonHumanPrimate on

I emailed my Democratic senators thanking them for not voting along with the other 8 and asking that they publicly denounce Schumer in the minority leader role, then work towards replacing him with someone much more effective in that position ASAP.

If you’re in the same boat, I urge you to do the same.

  26. I’m confused. I know Schumer is the leader (And he’s terrible at it) but what exactly was he supposed to do about Senators breaking rank to vote on this? What could he have threatened them with / done to them to keep them in line? Isn’t it their decision to vote however they see fit? What can he realistically do to them now that they’ve broken rank with this vote?
