  1. This is what we need. People love to say we need to elect better representatives to replace the do-nothings currently in office, but if no one is running against them, then there isn’t anyone else to vote for.

  2. Oh no! Your billionaires! Would someone think of the poor, vulnerable billionaires! 😭

It is wonderful to see young people with hope now, and getting involved in politics. We really need this.

Bernie is right: If we are angry at the corporate, moderate Democrats who caved on the shutdown, we need more fresh, young Democrats to run in the primaries to take on the Democratic establishment, and we need to elect more politicians who actually represent us and give us hope, like Mamdani. That’s the only way change will actually happen.

Even if you can’t run for something (because it aint exactly cheap), look at volunteering for good candidates or the DSA (if your local chapter is one of the good ones). There’s a ton of behind-the-scenes work done to help the candidates and policies as a whole.

  6. I was thinking after Pelosi’s retirement announcement that if the Democratic Party really wanted to shake up the 2028 election, they could coordinate for many of their older members to announce retirements after the 2026 election simultaneously with a message of encouraging the next generation of leaders across the country to step into primaries in blue-leaning areas and run as independents in red-leaning areas. A message around the next generation stepping up could be powerful and make it hard for the Republican Party, especially after another Trump term, to effectively make the argument that their experienced leadership is the right way to go.

Young people are interested in creating the world they want to live in and establishment democrats are really pissed off about it.

  8. Come on democratic voters. Especially the younger ones out there. Primaries are the most important process and if we all show up we can out vote the older folks who never bother and replace most moderates in congress in one fucking year. We can pull a hostile takeover of at least the House next year. The Senate will take longer but we can do that too. We can change the entire congressional democratic party in 6 years and three elections. To me that is the way forward. The democrats as they are quite possibly are the most useless version of a political party in our country’s history. Just make sure tho when we do primary then to vet the newbies. Make sure they were not registered republicans at any point in their lives because too many of those are sneaking on by.

This is why I, trapped in deep red Nebraska, sooo badly wanted him to win. We even have kids in this state inspired.

I’m so over the Democrats at this point, if a candidate like Mamdani runs in future elections, regardless of local, state, or federal, I will gladly jump ship and vote for a Socialist Democrat. I’m just so over the Dems.

  11. The only way we will be able to reform the Democratic Party and actually become a progressive party that puts labor over capital, is if we get more young folks running for office that have actually worked a day in their life at difficult jobs. We need those types of people and the ideas that they bring to the table. We don’t need any more lawyers (with all the staff that Congressman have, understanding of the minutia of law can be handled by staff members), we don’t need any more big business owners, and we certainly don’t need anymore reality tv stars.

As a boomer who is throughly disgusted with big money controlling the country, clean house, let’s hope it’s an improvement

  13. Good. Moar.

I thought we encouraged competition in America. Establishment Dems should welcome the fresh blood – the fact that we had an 81-year-old with Cadillac healthcare for life caving on whether young americans deserve access to healthcare is universally infuriating.

be less out of touch if you want to keep your jobs

I don’t think we should be calling people like him and AOC, and Bernie democrats. We should call them progressives or grassroots. These people actually want change unlike democrats such as chuck Schumer… we need more grassroots politicians or nothings going to change.

Good. Every single Dem over 60 needs to go. They won’t live long enough to see the effects of the polices they vote on.
