  1. *Not that it matters, the bobbleheads watching and living in their crazy bubble of delusion wouldn’t believe it for a second, and the rest of us have always known that Fox is MEGA’s very own publicity department, and one of the main guiding policy maker for the gullible and malleable trump.*

“Can Portland, Oregon, sue Fox News for defamation?”

“A new [report](https://www.propublica.org/article/portland-protests-national-guard-fox-news-coverage?utm_source=bluesky&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=propublica-bsky) from ProPublica Wednesday found that for months preceding President Donald Trump’s federal takeover of Portland, Fox News manufactured raging riots fit for air—and one so convincing that it apparently prompted Trump to send federal forces to the Pacific Northwest.”

“On September 4, the day before Trump announced that he would send federal forces to Oregon, Fox News aired a segment about a protest outside of an ICE detainment facility in June. But the network used multiple clips from July 2020 showing law enforcement clashing with protesters outside of a federal courthouse.”

“The segment also included footage of a protester burning an American flag that was originally posted to social media in July 2020. At the time of broadcast, none of this footage was labeled with the correct year, implying that it happened this year later and in a completely different place. Two weeks later, Fox News added an editor’s note to its website clarifying that the report used footage from 2020 and 2025.”

“Also on September 2, Lawrence B. Jones, a host on Fox & Friends, even claimed that protesters were attacking federal officers. In reality, the opposite was true, as federal officers moved in forcefully on protesters who in most cases have not received any criminal charges.”

“It seems that this coverage worked its way to Trump.”

“What they’ve done to that place, it’s like living in hell,” Trump said on September 5, referring to something he saw on TV.

Portland should sue Fox News (Fox Entertainment Television) for $100B Dollars….just like POTUS does.

Just like they faked the coverage of the Jan 6 Insurrection. I still don’t understand how we controlled the DOJ for 4 of the last 5 years and did nothing about their ongoing lies: *oh wait, Merrick Garland*.

Fox News should have been banned from labling its broadcasts News when it used its just entertainment defense in a prior suit.

Yeah, Portland should sue, but I don’t see anything changing in the wake of it.

Fox has been doing this for *years.*

Once they tried to pass off footage from California as taking place in Wisconsin. The palm trees were a bit of a giveaway…

Sinclair media is doing the same. They’re worse than Fox as they seem more low key but is as biased and uses over propaganda tactics and literally hires people connected to Russia Today. Just have a different approach but same end goals.

Check the r/Journalism sub for any posts about them. I just posted this today with deep dive info:

  7. Fox: Manufacturing chaos at the expense of human lives for a ratings bump and to help perpetuate the dictator’s policy of authoritarian oppression. There must be accountability.

The mayor of Portland should sue for a billion dollars. I hear that’s the going rate for edited footage.

  9. And the “correction” will be referenced on page 47 of their “weekend edition” that no one reads.

Like I mentioned in another comment, what bothers me most about the current situation is people don’t *really* seem to give a shit. Sure, they’ll get pissed at a headline and make Reddit comments (I’m aware of the irony here), but *nothing* ever comes of it.

Similar to how democrats “snatched defeat from the jaws of victory” over this last government shutdown, they’ll *almost* do something about all this, but then “give up” after some hand wringing.

  10. They do this constantly, and have been doing it for years. Seattle protests. Portland protests. Any left leaning protest will have footage from entirely unrelated events in other places and times spliced in. I remember back in 2020 they edited men with guns into pictures from Seattle. It’s insane what they get away with.

  11. They could literally tell there viewers that the “news” they report is fictional and it wouldn’t make a difference. Don’t underestimate how smooth those maga brains are.

Portland needs to sue the trump administration… Idk maybe for around 1 billion dollars?

Fox News is immune to lawsuits because they’ll argue that they are not actually a news channel and that they produce entertainment content that no reasonable person would belive to be factual. It’s not their fault that their audience is unreasonable people.

  14. greaterwhiterwookiee on

Because it’s not NEWS. It’s entertainment. And frankly it’s entertainment for idiots.

  15. Remember they had to admit in court that they are not actually “news” and you’d be stupid to take them as factual.

Oregon should be able to sue, the blatantly disingenuous actions of FOX has caused measurable harm to the state and its populace. Sue those sons of bitched into bankruptcy.
