  1. Dread is creeping into the West Wing as the Jeffrey Epstein story returns during the weakest moment of Donald Trump’s second term, Jonathan Lemire reports.

“Jeffrey Epstein is dead. But the disgraced financier and sex offender continues to shadow Trump,” Lemire writes. The release of thousands of Epstein’s emails yesterday, some of which highlight his relationship with Trump, delivered another blow to the president after a series of defeats: His party was wiped out in last week’s elections, the Supreme Court seems set to unravel his signature tariffs, and his poll numbers have dipped.

“The president in the past two days has made a round of calls to longtime allies to rage against the Epstein matter, blaming Democrats and the media, one of the people who received a call told me,” Lemire writes.

Trump and a number of top Justice Department officials failed to convince Representatives Lauren Boebert and Nancy Mace to withdraw their names from a discharge petition that would force a vote on releasing a trove of Epstein material, sending it to the House floor as soon as next week, Lemire reports.

“The White House’s push to keep more Epstein materials from being released came after Democrats on the House Oversight Committee leaked emails yesterday morning that suggested close ties between the sex offender and Trump,” Lemire reports.

“All of this, of course, raises the question: What exactly is Trump trying to prevent from being released? For months, White House aides have snapped at reporters who even mentioned the word ‘Epstein,’” Lemire writes. “But in private moments, members of the president’s inner circle acknowledge that they don’t know the true extent of Trump’s relationship with Epstein.”

An ally whom Trump called urged the president to change tactics, because he’s “not acting like someone who has nothing to hide,” the ally told Lemire.

As if anything’s gonna happen to Trump… he could literally shoot someone on 5th Ave & not lose his supporters.

Republicans will never indict or impeach Trump. The best outcome we can hope for is that this scandal peels off some Republican voters in the midterms…

Anyone else disgusted by the treating raping children like a standard political scandal.

  4. The timing is definitely inconvenient, but the focus needs to remain on the content of the documents, not just the political fallout. Accountability for those at the top is the main goal here.

I’m watching MAGA try to answer it outside their echo chamber. They just can’t do it. There’s no defense anymore. Trump raped kids. He knew about Jeff doing it. Jeff had thanksgiving with him *while he was president.*

That’s why Megyn Kelly is trying that “13-15 is fine” angle (ick). Before the end of the weekend, they’ll be bringing up foreign ages of consent to call critics of Trump’s pedophilia a racist. There’s no more “he didn’t do it” anymore.

  6. This was always going to be the way, the shutdown put a lid on it, but it just built up pressure, now the shutdown is over the tops looking to blow off.

Can anyone tell me how these files are being protected? They are quite literally under the full control of the people involved in them. What is to stop them from being destroyed or significantly altered?

These headlines are victimizing Trump, this is hilarious. This country is so fucked up right now.

  10. Probably hurts to kill your friend and have it not even be that helpful. If he was still alive he’s probably be asking him for advice right now.

Returns? When, in the last 4 months have the Epstein files not been a topic? Which 3.7 minutes was the world not talking about it?

“Dead men tell no tales.” They just send emails & get everything they need in writing or on tape before they die so they can fuck over everyone else “just in case” as a “dead man’s switch.”

  13. I’ve learned a new word that people are trying to use as cover for trump not being a pedophile. He’s an ephedophile or however it’s spelled. wtf is this timeline.

  14. I hate that I can only get real time news from podcasters on YouTube. I pay for shit but they just don’t cover it well if they cover it at all.

  15. Let’s be real, Trump had Epstein offed. Ivana too because she probably had too much dirt on him or something along those lines.

All of this makes me wonder…did Hitler also rape kids? Is this a primary right wing attribute?

  17. From an outside perspective, I want to see how far Trump has to go before my American friends become outraged. I thought we had reached that point after he had Maxwell transferred to a minimum-security federal prison, where she received VIP treatment and privileges. Maxwell was found guilty of perpetrating heinous crimes against children, including recruiting, Rwording and trafficking them.

Poor baby. Been exploiting people all of his adult life and only gets one ghost to haunt him.

  19. Apparently, reporters need permission to speak on the Trump /Epstein connection. Perhaps it’s been granted by certain outlets. We shall see how long this lasts.

  20. Really? These fucking constant bullshit headlines lead to endless hope for accountability which will never come. Never. The array of clickbait lines the pockets and nothing more.
