  1. It’ll probably be poorly built junk anyway and have to be torn down eventually because he underpaid contractors who cut corners.

    And sending the bill to the donors of it. “You helped Trump break the law, here’s the bill for restoring the White House”

  3. I’m certain this is something the next dem nominee will actually campaign on.

    Restore the people’s house, tear down the ballroom!!

  4. Unconventional01 on

    Keep it and turn it into a soup kitchen for anyone with food insecurity.
    Now that would be a statement.

  5. Italy left up a lot of Mussolini’s projects and monuments after the war, including the Mussolini Obelisk. Lets not be like Italy. Tear that shit down as soon as he’s impeached again.

    Leave it up.

    “Jeffrey Epstein memorial Ballroom and women’s history museum.”

    Make it free to the public.

    From a historical architecture standpoint, I think there should be plenty of support for tearing it down, or at least reducing its size and modifying the style so it doesn’t overshadow and clash with the rest of the White House.

    Honestly, just mothball the whole thing and make it a museum to the dangers of fascism. Find a new property for the President to live in.

  9. Absolutely, tear it down and bury the remains in an unmarked grave with all the other cheap hotel honeymoon suite decorations.

  10. White House will need to be restored to its former glory, from thorough sanitization to redevelopment of the Rose Garden

    If I were president, I’d un-fancy the White House, and make the White House run on green energy. In the long run, it would save taxpayers money. It would also show who I stand for. I don’t need fancy things to be happy. Helping others is what makes me happy, which is exactly what I would do as president. I have a quite progressive platform. I call America a community, and I will help create a more just America. I’m the exact opposite of Trump, both politically and morally.

    But why would you tear down the future home of the fully funded Marsha P. Johnson LGBTQ Center, the Jackie Onassis Center for Horticulture, the Janis Joplin Free Needle Exchange, the Eugene Debs Center for Worker Rights, the Gloria Steinem Center for Reproductive Rights, and the Muhammad Ali Sports and Recreation Center for Young Black Men?

    …This is a wishlist, not sarcasm.

    I seriously doubt it will ever be built. I should say, I doubt it will ever be completed, but probably started. There’s a lot of loose cash to be grifted in an ongoing building project on Federal Land.

  14. Don’t tear it down. Refurbish it into something trump will hate. Like a shelter for abused women.

  15. I appreciate the sentiment, but it’s wasting millions of dollars to correct for this waste of millions of dollars.

    I’d rather it get renovated to remove whatever gaudy tacky shit is going to end up in this version.

  16. I have a better plan.

    Install the proper security, and then rip the doors off. Make it a community center/homeless shelter.

    Why? Because that will personally irk him more.

  17. It will almost certainly never be finished and if it miraculously is it will be so shoddy and so insecure that it’s going to cost more to fix than tear down and restore the East Wing. Just like his stupid “free” jet.

  18. It shouldn’t just be a suggestion. It should be a priority to put the entire White House back to its previous state.

    That’s table stakes.

    * Tear down the ballroom
    * Restore the Lincoln Bedroom and Bathroom
    * Tear all the tacky gold shit out of the white house
    * Change the name back to Department of Defense
    * Gulf of Mexico
    * End DHS & ICE
    * SCOTUS reform & Code of Ethics

    I’m sure I’m leaving stuff out. I’m sure Schumer & the centrists will be like, “let’s just move on”, but all this stuff is super important to me and I’m not gonna forget.

  20. You have to. Letting it stay is a “Win”, a lasting legacy for him, something that could always be reverted back by a pandering Conservative in the future if you leave it standing.

    Turn it into a cage for all the Trumps, where the public can throw rotten vegetables at them shackled in pillories.

  22. There should be a specific tax hike on billionaires and multimillionaires to undo all his damage.  “White House Restoration Tax” only on capital gains, “Postal Service Restoration Tax” only on corporations worth more than a certain amount, etc.

  23. 100% absolutely.

    Get rid of all the shit gold trim too. Remove the orange stain from the whitehouse.

    Oh and remove ICE as a department. Fire them all

    That’s just the beginning.

  24. But before they do that. They need to have drag queens story time in it. And paint it with rainbow colors

  25. Down to fucking rubble and make every single one of its donors pay for it. Down to the rubble and burn every piece so no souvineers remain—and every donor should pay for it

    That abomination is not a part of our White House any more than our cancer cells are part of us.
