Turn it into immigration and social services offices. It would be a really nice place to swear in new citizens

Title Correction: “When Democrats Regain the White House, Trump’s Ballroom will be an Early Correction”

  3. There’s going to be a lot of 2028 hopefuls who pledge to tear it down and demand every other candidate do the same. They’ll probably even be one of those pathetic raise-your-hand-if questions at a primary debate.

And it’ll all be unserious nonsense, as those pledges almost always are.

Not saying the thing shouldn’t be torn down, but the only reasonable answer to that question would be to say it will be studied, budgeted, and a decision will be made.

If it’ll waste money to tear it down, you can’t do it out of spite. Maybe the best option will be to keep it but turn it into something other than a ballroom. Maybe it will be to demolish it. Who knows?

I’d also like Carter’s solar panels back, though, if we’re talking about changes a Dem president should make.

Have they even started building anything yet? Or was it all just demoed and covered with a tarp as trump forgot or lost interest while pocketing the money?

If Democrats regain the White House, it’s going to be brutal rebuttal to what Trump destroyed. Trump and MAGA’s illegal war on Democrats and Democracy will get revenged. It’s a shame what they have done.

  6. The staffers and White House staff that develop cancer due to asbestos exposure will be the actual first casualties

  7. I’d prefer the Heritage Foundation and billionaires to be the first casualty, but his “decor” is certainly on the list too.

  8. Turn it into a museum for fascism and treachery with this building as the main attraction and evidence. Serve as a reminder…

If our next dem president doesn’t immediately demolish the ballroom i don’t trust them

I’m hoping trump completes his ballroom just in time for the next president to demolish it.

Optimistic to assume that this thing will actually be built. My bet is a gaping hole will remain while 300 million in “construction” dollars disappear into the ether

  12. I mean duh. The moment a Democrat is President again the first things that will be done is to undo nearly everything that happened in this term.

It’s supposed to be able to seat 600+. Turn it into a temporary Congress, uncap the house and renovate Congress

  14. This all assumes it actually get’s built, and that we don’t just get 3 years of blue tarps overing the blown out wall.

  15. I vote for changing it into a court room where trials should be held for some people in this administration and a few high profile supporters. I need Stephen Miller to be the first.

Rebuild the East Wing exactly as it was and prosecute Trump and/or his estate for the costs.

  17. I like the idea of repurposing it into something Trump would despise, but only if it can be done at little expense. I don’t want to see Dems come in and blow the same amount or more of taxpayer money on a huge remodel or demolition. There are more important things to take care of.

Given that it was an illegal construction take the money from trump family to restore the building.

There’s nothing wrong *per se* with having a nice reception room at the White House. A size-appropriate one could easily be added in a properly-rebuilt East Wing.

Windsor Castle’s dining room is 5,400 sq ft. Versaille’s Hall of Mirrors is 8,400. The French President’s main reception room is 6,500. A 6,000 sqft room would be much smaller than the main building’s 170×150 dimentions. The White House is 60-70 feet high, which means a 40′ high room would still be lower profile.

Now, good luck getting any of that past Donnie.

  20. Won’t the Republicans just the Democrats are wasting money replacing perfectly fine construction just to be petty towards Trump?

  21. Sue everyone involved, including the demolition company, and have the wing rebuilt.

Is Trumps face going on the Lincoln Memorial next ?

Bizarre that you can demo a piece of American history so easily.

  22. Don’t stop there. First executive order the next democratic president signs should undo everything cosmetic thing trump ever did. If Trump changed the name, return it to is original or name it after some victim of his. Any build his commissioned, demolish it. Cancel any contract he okayed. I don’t care how petty it comes off, any and all attempts to remove him from history should be taken.

  23. My thought is that it was never intended to be built. Trump will simply make off with the 300 mil since that was the goal all along.

  24. If Democrats get back into power, they had better track down and seize every penny the Trump administration stole from the public. All his money. His family’s money. Trump and his entire staff need to go to prison. Musk too needs to be locked up and have his trillion-dollar portfolio seized and redistributed.
