And the kids will end up dumber. I sent my kids to a religious school one year. It was a disaster. I found out that their teachers weren’t required to have a teaching degree or teaching license. These were literally mindless ninnies that didn’t even have a grasp on spelling. I just shook my head at everything that came home from the teachers and got my kids into public school the next year. My kids are all gainfully employed successful adults now.

The complete lack of public schools in the south in the early 19th century is a huge reason the Civil War occurred.
Schools with extremely high tuition that do not pay their teachers worth shit are getting millions in subsidies…for what exactly? Who in their right mind thinks this is okay? Do they really think that money is going to towards the kids’ education or paying teachers any more? Private schools take in so much money as it is just to fill their director’s pockets.
As a Texan, I am so sick of this shit. I have 2 kids in public school and it’s terrifying that they will not have the skills and knowledge needed to advance in life. I am seriously looking to gain employment outside of Texas…and if successful, I will have the difficult job of telling my kids it’s time to move. I hate what this would mean to them and the bonds they’ve made but I have to think about their academic future.

This is what Republicans did to Arizona. All the districts are strapped for cash. They have to pile 30 kids in a classroom, because there’s not enough teachers to go around.
Libertarian billionaires, primarily Charles Koch, are behind this.
These conservative republicans hate the working class and hate America.
They want to destroy everything. They pay lip service to American values and tradition.
For generations we valued Americans’ access to decent, free education. It was a hallmark of american greatness. It was an equalizer that lifted millions of people and a cornerstone of what made this country strong and productive. People around the world envied it and wanted it for their children.
Now our leadership derides and insults it. Dishonestly accuses it of being dangerous and subversive for their own greed and ideology.
Its pathetic and sad. We should be having honest discussions about making it a strong positive force and funding it to achieve that for anyone in our society who wants it. Instead we’re starving it and letting these grifters line their pockets while they build private little education systems for themselves.

Please get out a vote EVERY TIME there is an election, esp local – this is where we need to start to ensure school boards and other city officials are educated and able to help our children and communities!
Kind of odd for republicans to be against property taxes since property taxes are one of the few acceptable taxes in a free market. Property taxes should be high to discourage speculation and to apply the cost of rising property values to owners.
Did anyone really believe Greg cared about Texas children and public education. Texas needs more minimum wage workers so Billionaires can make more money to pay him.
It’s crazy how many working class people who send their kids to public schools vote for politicians to send their tax dollars to private schools they could never afford.
