I don’t think it will happen, but that would put Republicans in full blown panic and the ratfuckery of trying to rig 2026 will go from cute little things like illegal gerrymanders to straight up ballot stuffing and election cancelations.

  2. I hope the people in Tennessee get out and vote for this Democrat. People are very unhappy with Republicans and Trump.

  3. Trump won TN-07 by 22 points in 2024 so the fact that this is even close sends quite a signal.

  4. Not sure if I want that, or two pallets of Jack Daniels’ Tennessee Whiskey this Christmas.

  5. I swear to god, if she pulls this off and the DNC keeps up with their same old shit, the party needs to end.

  6. > An Emerson College/The Hill survey released on the final day of in-person early voting shows Republican Matt Van Epps leading Democrat Aftyn Behn 48 percent to 46 percent among likely voters, with five percent undecided and two percent backing third-party candidates. The poll has a margin of error of 3.9 percentage points. When leaning voters are included, the gap narrows to 49–47 percent, underscoring a dramatic tightening in a district long considered a GOP stronghold.

“48 percent to 46 percent among likely voters” changing to “49 to 47 percent when including leaning voters” does not “narrow the gap”. Are there any journalists with functioning brains left or is this all AI?

  7. Maybe if they ran a 40 year-old guy with a regular name they could flip it. I don’t think a woman that looks like she’s under 30 and named Aftyn of all things is the best candidate to do this.

This is an actual sign that MAGA might be on its last legs.

If you’ve lost deep red state Republicans, who treat hating Democrats like it’s their second religion, you KNOW something has been broken.

  9. This is a surprise considering Tennessee is 70% white, only 20% of the state uses the ACA and 10% SNAP. The Epstein thing must’ve really pissed off some Tennesseans.

Just like Texas has been purple for 15 years now, and they’ll soon vote Democrat. Any second now. Just you wait.

These articles just seed false hope.

Anything close to that result would mean the Dems were closer to 300 seats than GOP is to gerrymandering themselves a gain.

Either epic, or an epic bad poll.

  12. I don’t think people understand how incredible it is that this race is even close. Lived around this area my whole life Republicans have a super majority in the state and the maps are gerrymandered to all ends. Check out this [map](https://comptroller.tn.gov/maps/u-s–congress-districts.html) and this race is for district 7. You can see what they did to Davidson Co (Nashville) so the city never really gets a true representation of ideas. The majority of they make up of that district is as red as it gets so while I want a win an extremely close race as it’s turning out to be is at the very least promising sign for the rest of the country come mid terms.

    Edit: spelling

  13. I say this as someone who used to live in Tennessee up until recently.

Don’t get your hopes up for this race. Democrats may as well not even be a thing in this state. The other problem is the Democrats in this state are very much old money. They dislike the new generation and would rather fight them and keep on losing elections than to form any semblance of a coalition.

Democrats are far from gaining any semblance of a foothold in Tennessee.

  14. As a Tennessean, I hope this happens. The abuse of our beautiful state and people by Republicans has deeply ruined my home, and I want nothing more for Republicans to start sweating and fearing the day that their grip ends. We deserve so much better that the pieces of shits that have been running this place.

Should that occur, I will immediately perform the Tennessee Waltz around the room. And I can’t even dance.

  16. I personally am not going to get my hopes up that it will flip (it’s Tennessee for God’s sake) but the fact that it is THIS close is a very, very big deal and good sign for anyone in opposition to the fascist regime in the WH.

  17. That republicans have to defend this is a moral victory.

That the Dems haven’t labeled the guy as a pedo protector is a shame. He was going to not release the files.

We were “close” in FL-6 too with Josh Weil (tho maybe for the best as it turns out a few months later he was diagnosed with something that made him drop his Senate run).

It could happen. I’m not saying it can’t but we gotta temper expectations. Even with a loss if the gap is closed significantly that is still something to build momentum with.

  19. I just donated.

I do not like the democrats official donate website. But, I thought it would get it there faster.

I respect the fact that this candidate has an alternate way to donate — she gives info to mail a check.

(But, I admit, the other way seems useful to get funds there fast at this point in time.)

The more you gerrymander the worse your lead in each district gets. If they keep this shit up, the midterms could actually be a major bloodbath.
