  1. From reporter Igor Bobic:

Two Republican senators spoke up in defense of their Democratic colleague, Sen. Mark Kelly of Arizona, as the Trump administration seeks to punish him in response to a video he recorded last week, noting the military can defy illegal orders.

“Senator Kelly valiantly served our country as an aviator in the U.S. Navy before later completing four space shuttle missions as a NASA astronaut,” Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) [wrote](https://x.com/lisamurkowski/status/1993458701601014111) in a social media post on Tuesday. “To accuse him and other lawmakers of treason and sedition for rightfully pointing out that servicemembers can refuse illegal orders is reckless and flat-out wrong.”

  2. So now everybody wants to get on the right side of posterity? Are you guys not scared of Trump anymore?

  3. Oh, interesting. GOP senators are starting to realize that if Democratic senators aren’t safe, *they’re* not safe.

  4. I think they know if they push this, they’ll push him right into the presidency at the next election. .

That’s a hard sell to go after the kind of true alpha that these Republican podcasters dream about.

  6. Stupid baseless witch hunt, his 5 lines he said are in the law, lets not say Trump did not incite Jan 6….takes one to know one and any other country Trump would have been in jail long ago.

I would love to see everyone in Congress stand up and publicly remind our soldiers and officers that they must refuse illegal orders. They can’t investigate everyone.

Just smoke and mirrors while they continue to scrub the Epstein files. I mean, it’s real, but it’s shifting the focus.

  9. Just the fact that there is movement to punish him shows how far we have fallen. The military of 2 years ago would have still agreed with him.

I wouldn’t be surprised if this situation propels Kelly closer to a realistic bid for President or acceptance of a VP run.

  11. I don’t get it. Anyone can get on social media and read out any law or part of the constitution they want. I don’t see how this could be more than theatre at this point.

  12. The newsworthy item here isn’t that two GOP senators said something mildly supportive of Kelly. The real news is that only two of them had the courage to say anything.

  13. So it’s Lisa Murkowski and the Mormon replacement for Romney’s seat calling the DOD out.

Yeah this is a non story, nobody important involved on the Republican side.

  14. Always remember to refrain from being on the wrong side of history.

Trump and his administration are temporary position holders. They will be gone one day soon. History will remember this time as one of the worst and most corrupt eras of America. Do you want to be remembered on the wrong side of that story?

  15. Kelly should consider a presidential run after this. His credentials are sterling and he’ll be getting a ton of press off this

retired Navy here and this guy looks like he doesnt fuck around. I dont know much about him but I know I would not want to challenge him. he is an astronaut and a badass from all the info I know

Even Republicans know they are on a sinking ship. They need a life preserver and it’s becoming desperate.

This whole thing is a distraction from the many other horrible things Trump is doing. It’s going nowhere. The point is to get you talking about “this”, so we don’t focus on “that”

  19. Reactivating him is a sneaky way of keeping him out of the senate.

If he becomes active duty, he has to do what the Navy says.

They will station him in Japan so he won’t be able to attend senate votes.
