If the Guard had not been unnecessarily deployed, this would never had happened.
That stated, while this deployment was unnecessary, it’s not OK to shoot at our National Guard. They didn’t ask for this. The man who shot at them deserves due process, and should be charged & eventually sentenced accordingly. HE and his actions ALSO put his Afghan community at risk, because he did this when an absolutely xenophobic administration is in charge, & now they’re going to go after thousands of innocent people who do not deserve what’s coming to them, as a result of his actions.
My heart genuinely goes out to those Guardsmen who were shot, & their families. I truly hope they can recover. They did NOT deserve this.
My heart also goes out to the families in the Afghan communities that will unfairly pay the price for what this man did.
A lot of us sit around in different subs, reading posts made by who knows who, claiming that we Americans, should use our 2nd Amendment rights, & shoot at Americans in uniform, and I 100% disagree.
I don’t approve of what’s happening, but taking a life, or attempting to do so, has NO PLACE in public discourse or as actions to take IRL.
What we MUST do is show up in droves in the midterms, and 2028, and get these f*cking people out of office.
Let’s keep our eye on the reality that two people who are attempting to serve our country, & might even be at a loss as to what to do morally, were victims of an attempt on their lives.
They deserve our respect & support. They too, are victims of this insanity.
