    Obviously a certain amount of retirement happens anyway, so it’s sometimes hard to know who would’ve been retiring regardless. But I can’t help but wonder if these are the scant few Republicans who actually don’t like how things are going, but are too gutless to actually do anything about it, so quitting is “easier.”

    Here is a full list of Texas GOP reps leaving in 2026.

    >Nehls joins a list of five other Republicans from Texas who had already announced they won’t seek reelection in 2026. Two — U.S. Reps. Wesley Hunt of Houston and Chip Roy of Austin — are seeking other offices, while the other three — U.S. Reps. Jodey Arrington of Lubbock, Morgan Luttrell of Magnolia and Michael McCaul of Austin — have yet to announce future plans.

    If new Texas maps are approved, his seat would lose solid red voters. Would his seat be in danger in a wave election?

    >The U.S. Supreme Court is expected to rule soon on Texas’ request to use the new map while the court battle over its legality plays out. Under the new lines, Nehls’ 22nd District would retain about two-thirds of its current residents, dropping Matagorda and Wharton counties and adding more residents from Harris County.

    The TX 18th district has been without congressional representation for almost a year. Something tells me they will fill this vacancy a lot quicker.

    Let me see if I have the formula correct:

    1. Praise Trump, say something mean about trans people, women, brown people, etc. on social media all day

    2. Get elected in a district where you’re like guaranteed to win because it’s safe red

    3. Quit when you get tired of dealing with the crazy shit that comes with this moronic right wing script

    4. Collect millions
