  1. I’d vote for him, but I hope we aren’t normalizing ball caps with suits. Let Trump look that stupid by himself.

Maybe the whole point is to sabotage the 2028 contender, kinda like Republicans did to Hillary. It would be glorious to see this strategy backfire on the GOP.

  3. Outrageous_Garden586 on

He’s obviously a super impressive guy and if he’s the nominee he has my vote but he’s pretty moderate tbh.

  4. He needs to be at MINIMUM a nailed on VEEP. Dude is a patriot in all senses of the word, and having him represent the new dem party would be great.

Democrats have wasted an entire year of campaigning. Let that sink in. No Project 2029. No platform. Nothing. Just passing MAGA budgets and helping an orange rapist normalize the military murdering civilians.

Mark Kelly just isn’t charismatic enough to win the nomination IMO. There’s a reason Kamala Harris didn’t pick him.

Honestly I know Walz is well loved because of his progressive roots and aw shucks nature, but Mark Kelly should have been the Vp running mate for Harris.

  8. I like Mark Kelly. I would 100% happily vote for him. However, let’s not be naive. EVERYTHING he is doing right now with regard to the “legal Orders” stuff is rage bait directed at Trump and designed to raise his presidential profile.

  9. He’s just another perpetual fundraiser. Need someone who will shape policy around asking people what they need and doing it.

  10. Not interested in another geriatric moderate.

Thank you for your service, Senator Kelly. But I’d prefer to vote for someone who is progressive (I know I’m kidding myself). Hell, I doubt the 2028 election will even be legitimate.

  11. What? Ew. Eww. No. I thought liberals wouldnt pick someone worse than Buttigieg or Newsom but here we are.

  12. Mark Kelly has been my #1 for awhile now.

and this is coming from a californian that has voted for and likes Newsom.

if they had the dem primary today, id be a little torn, but Kelly would get my vote over my own governor

  13. I like Mark, but I don’t think he will fare well in a primary. Though, to be honest, I don’t see a single dem right now that I’d be happy with in 2028 (bar some messaging changes/personality changes)

  14. I have serious reservations about signing up for a candidate simply because they ‘stood up to Trump’. I mean, that’s the bare minimum. I want medicare for all, student loan forgiveness, public funding of elections, policies that seriously address global warming, food safety regulations, and more. On a personal level, I want to be able to own a house, have children, and be able to retire.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s good that he’s standing up to Trump, but is he willing to have policies that address any of these things? Maybe he does, I don’t know, but standing up to Trump is not enough.

  15. Everyone was ready to crucify him for voting with Republicans to reopen the government.

For the sake of linear thought, how are people grappling with this latest contention with Trump and his vote for the bill to open the government? Do you think his voting history will come back to haunt him? Will he fail to attract the progressive vote?

  16. NO MORE BOOMER PRESIDENTS. Preferably no Gen-Xers either, since – broadly speaking – they aren’t much different from the Boomers.

Kelly is fine as a senator (too conservative, but as a senator from Arizona, that is okay – I suppose), but can we get a leader born after 1980, preferably even after 1985.

On paper he’s great but doesn’t have ‘it’.

Mamdani has ‘it’, Obama had ‘it’ and while we hate to admit it, so does Trump. Dems need to find a generational talent that represents the political views of their base, and I doubt Mark Kelly will be that guy. Clearly an amazing person but noone seriously thinks he’ll be president.

  18. monkeysknowledge on

He’s fossil fuel funded and not serious about fixing our health care or education systems. If he was to run and win – expect more of the same from the past 40 years of getting fucked over by corporate dems and republicans.

That said he might fill the daddy hole in some republicans.

As a Dem voter, nah I’m good. Kelly is fine out in Arizona but he puts of VP candidate on a losing ticket vibes

  20. He would be a good one. He has an integrity that goes beyond his service.

I just have a problem with those who have served in the military always seem more popular than those who don’t

I think the notion of military service is too deeply embedded in the country’s thinking.

  21. You know what. I hate a lot of the potential democratic contenders that people keep putting up. But Mark Kelly, I think I could get behind him.

  22. Unstoppable_Cheeks on

Id vote for Kelly in a heartbeat, I was pretty let down that he wasnt the Harris pick for VP this guy is tough as nails.

  23. I doubt it, Kelly isn’t charismatic enough. The next president will have a very strong personality and will be able to rally many people around a common goal. Kelly just isn’t that guy.

  24. With the likes of Shapiro, Buttigieg, Walz, and Newsome – I can’t help but wonder how different the world would be if Biden had just said 3 years in that he wasn’t running again. Now there’s Kelly and Pritzker; Ossoff is a dark horse, and the looming AOC run biding its time. The Dem bench is deep.
