Like all of this administration’s cabinet and appointees, there’s a huge cosplay element. What they know about governing, leadership, military service and loyalty comes from action movies. My WWII vet grandfather used to say that the ones who will tell you how tough they are and drone on and on with their war stories are the ones who did the least. Those who actually faced true danger either know who they are and don’t need others’ validation OR are in one of the military cemeteries.
