Imagine committing war crimes on behalf of Donald fucking Trump and Pete Hegseth.

Most of them haven’t got two braincells to rub together but someone should still tell them that ‘*just following orders*’ hasn’t been a valid defence since Nuremberg.

I’m hoping the investigations and attention on the boat killings remind the troops of their sworn duties and that following orders is not a get out of jail excuse.

They’ll just get pardoned anyway.

How about Pete Hegseth going to jail for the troops?

I mean, if they refuse orders won’t they go to jail anyways?

This isn’t the point they think they’re making. Orders are assumed constitutional by default, that’s a fact, so refusing an illegal order is treated by statute as refusing a legal order and you will go to jail for it. One of the 26 people charged for the My Lai massacre only went to jail, the rest were acquitted. And his jail sentence was actually house arrest on base for 4 years, a slap on the wrist for a mass murderer. Anyone who believes in the justice system here is completely delusional.
The actual ask is “please be brave enough to refuse an illegal order even though you WILL go to prison”.

Every member of the armed forces swore an oath to protect the country from enemies, foreign and domestic. This regime is the definition of domestic enemies.

Dear Troops,
The Admiral being tossed under the bus is a prime example of what Congress member Kelly is telling you about. It is what Trump was reading during the NFL game.
You are not going to be protected. You are not going to have anyone looking out for you. You will be tossed under the bus. You will have your career ruined. Think about how hard it was to become an Admiral all those decades of perfection wasted on a National Guard and a man who avoided service by lying because they are racist liars. You and your troops will be gone and hundreds of thousands of dollars in trading wasted because two racist traitors are egomaniac criminals and you, you knew better.

That problem with these troops is that they are 20-25 years old and have a lot of growing up to do.
They are easy to manipulate and coerce into things. No offense, they are just not mature enough to go to jail for a lifetime over Peter or Donald’s direction.
Although I think it will happen and they will go to prison. Which, sadly, is the best we can do.

Aren’t the military personnel that ordered and carried out the order all guilty of carrying out an unlawful order?

Some sailors need to go to Leavenworth already

Everyone involved in this strike should go to jail, from the top down.
