I’m not sure what republican voters want because the republican politicians have been campaigning on hurting the working class and some how wins elections. So I just figured Republicans wanted to live in a hellscape of indentured servitude without having basic necessities or rights. But I guess republican politicians worry their voters want healthcare.

>“To do this is buffoonery,” Van Drew added, referring to Republican inaction. “I want to be in the majority next year, and this makes that much harder because of the districts that are so close.”
>There are a handful of competing ideas circulating among Republicans, but there’s no consensus on which plan to coalesce behind.
>Some plans would extend the subsidies for two years, some for one year. Almost all have new restrictions, though they differ on the specifics. And none addresses abortion, which is a significant stumbling block to any compromise.
The thing that is important to see here is that almost all (the new plans) have new restrictions.
Not one of these moderate GQP members said they care about health care or us. They just “want to be in the Majority.”
They only give a shit about winning. They don’t care about your health. They just want to protect the for profit health care, extract money from you. They don’t want to kick everyone off of health insurance, they want to kick more people off.
Then they will again, claim that they “saved the ACA” but will have, again, made it worse.
The democrats will fight this until the last day and then they will cave, like they always do giving concessions. .
No one will talk about the new restrictions, and they will successfully and quietly kick more people off of health care coverage.

Do any of the republican plans include a basic single payer system with enhanced health care company plans available to put a ceiling on the rising insurance costs. It seems to me that this sort of plan might get some bipartisan support. It might help to sell this plan if it was called Trumpcare.
If Johnson doesn’t come up with a subsidy extension accompanied with some sort of bipartisan compromise none of the Republican moderates will be safe.

They shut down government for so long to oppose ACA tax credit extensions and now some of them want to extend them. Weird.

MAGA, yoo-hoo, time to pull the head out!
Republikans already threw 15 million MAGA off their healthcare with the Big, Billionaires Bill.
Now, Republikans are getting ready to DOUBLE (yes, DOUBLE) insurance premiums for everyone on the ACA.

“Centrist” in this context means a Republican who knows their 5% or less win margin means he’ll be cooked in 2026

I’m having a hard time remembering a time when I didn’t immediately associate the GOP with all things buffoonery. I think there probably was a time. But it’s definitely been at least a decade or more.

Well, seeing as how the top 10 states using ACA are red states may incentivize them.

why would they need to “hold their noses” to cast a vote to “**prevent** a spiral in out-of-pocket costs for more than 20 million Americans”? what the fuck is wrong with Republicans? why do they insist on being such horrible people?

There is no such thing as a Republican centrist.
But buffoonery is 100% on-brand for the GOP
How about calling it ACA?
